Mass Effect 3 Ending Fighter Goes To The FTC

A fan who wants to see the ending of Mass Effect 3 changed has taken his complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, the agency created to protect consumers.

His argument is that Bioware did not deliver on the promise of its game saying, "after reading through the list of promises about the ending of the game they made in their advertising campaign and PR interviews, it was clear that the product we got did not live up to any of those claims."

He continues by inviting others to file complaints against Electronic Arts with the FTC if they share his sentiments.

  • I'm all for Bioware changing the ending; but petitions, harrassing Casey Hudson on twitter, and now this? This is taking it way too far.
  • This just helps EA PR who want to paint the dissenters as radical and taking things too far.
  • Oh, come on. Really!!! This isn't Burger King. You don't get to have it your way. What more do people expect out of the ending?
  • Dude needs to get a life.

  • some people are really, really, REALLY stupid.

  • Really? This is how far it's gone? I haven't finished Mass Effect 3 yet, but what the hell!?

  • i loved the series and the ending was allright by me this is beyond stupid

  • Most "fans" like this one forget the whole experience and focus solely on the ending. Mass Effect 3 was a great game, the ending was just bittersweet! First you finish the game and then you sue them because there was one part you didn't like? Screw that.
  • I may strongly disagree with people signing the petitions, but I really find it a breath of fresh air to see some of those same people at least agreeing that THIS action is taking it too far. Sorry person whoever you are, there's no government regulations on story telling and god help us all if there will be.
  • Wow... That is all.

  • this is getting out of hand

  • I thought the ending was crap. But I'm not entirely certain it warrants taking the issue to the FTC.

  • .... Too Bold.

  • I can't remember the last time the entire internet went crazy over a game controversy since... nope. There haven't really been any on this scale.

  • This is not happening. I've seen how unhappy people have been with this, but I didn't think that someone would take it this far. This guy is setting a precedent that he doesn't understand. He might think that he's opening up the way people to protest when they've been cheated, but he's really just telling everyone that gamers are whiny, entitled, b*tches. If you go see a bad movie, and you don't like it then you don't got complain to the FTC that the movie didn't live up to the hype. No one is going to go to them about John Carter, now are they? This guy needs to realize that the average person is going to see this whole thing as overblown, and that's not the kind of publicity gaming needs. What we need to do is go ask Bioware directly to change the ending, not the government.
  • what in gods name is so bad about the ending? I finished the game last night and really enjoyed the end
  • Witch Hunt!!

  • lmao! Dumb ass
  • Uhh, that's quite the devoted fan.

  • Awesome
