Microsoft: No New Xbox At E3

Microsoft said today there are no plans to unveil its next Xbox at E3 this June.

Ryan James, Group PR Manager for Microsoft Studios, said in a statement sent to Game Informer, "While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon.

"For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360—and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever—a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide."

Sony president Kaz Hirai said in early January the company has no plans to unveil its next console hardware at E3, either.

  • too bad i just tired of old tech... i need new game experience

  • I was hoping to hear something about a new console. The longer they wait the larger the gap will be between PC and consoles.

  • There we have it, right from the horses mouth. I only want a Half-life 3 reveal.

  • Not surprised, and it doesn't bother me. The 360 still have life left, and I really don't want to switch consoles anytime soon.

  • Good. Personally, I don't want any new consoles for another year or two. I'm fine with the 360 and PS3. The Wii U was a needed upgrade, just wish it wasn't called the Wii U.
  • I can wait anyway.....

  • E3 may be kind of lame without any new console news. But I'm going to watch it no matter what.
  • That's rather disappointing.  I'm so ready for a new console generation to start.  Just goes to show how much internet rumors are worth.

  • I'm content right now. I still have a backlog of games I'd like to finish & I'm still getting fun out all of em.
  • yay another *** E3... cant wait to see the kinect line up...

  • It's okay. I think my current can hold up another year, but after that if they don't have something they're gonna be in trouble. Games are now taking up more space than ever on discs, and I don't like switching them in the middle of an event no matter how good the story or graphics are.

  • *Tear*

  • I think Microsoft has earned themselves a few Gloating Victory Laps if you ask me. After losing money for every console sold, Being behind Sony and Nintendo for the opening cycle, and not having as immense an ingrained fan base as it's competitors who had been in this buiss longer, Slow and steady won the race. Quality of service is quality of service take a bow(Not to mention Quantity of Quality). Time to let us all Reap the awesomeness of a damn good console amidst probably one of the most influential Generation of games ever assorted.

    Hazaa!

  • I'm all for giving the current generation of consoles more life, so more power to them.

  • Isnt that supposed to be a red ring?

  • I'm not in a rush to get another console out.

  • They say that, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they did a big surprise reveal just to catch everyone off guard and get the hype-train rolling.

  • ...cries in corner until he remembers that his current XBOX360 is still freaking AWESOME!

  • Ok. First Sony says "No PS4", then Microsoft says "No New Xbox". Wow, that's just... Crazy!

  • Yes!!!! Thank you microsoft! I get my PS3 for another year!!!
