The lights are on
Sales of the original Alan Wake for Xbox 360 and PC have now reached 2 million sales worldwide, developer Remedy confirmed.
"After a slow start it's turning into something really positive. It's definitely had legs," said studio head Oskari Häkkinen in an interview with CVG. "I think narrative experiences just have a tendency for that."
Alan Wake's American Nightmare was released last month on Xbox Live Arcade. Häkkinen believes the franchise has a future. "Alan Wake is definitely very close to our hearts. It's our IP - we own it. It's not something that we're going to forget very easily," he said.
well ain't that just danndy!!!
Good for them. The game deserves success. Having a game sell steady over years is something more companies should strive for; it proves people really like the the game and word of mouth is positive, rather than having millions of people blindly preordering a game before even playing it then forgetting it existed when the sequel comes out next year.
I bought this for my xbox about a week or so ago and am really liking it, can't to finish it and play American nightmare.
WOO! Innovative game + good sales = happy gamers!
I can only hope the sales numbers continue to climb... I loved so much of what Alan Wake offers, the narrative style and controls foremost - but everything else showed such promise... that's what kills me. Many developers talk about how the second entry into a franchise ends up being the realization of all the ideas they had for the launch but couldn't afford.
I want Alan Wake 2 :|
That's good. It was terrific, even though it did get a little frustrating for me at times.
I just picked up the first one yesterday, can't wait to dive into it. Watching the Reiner and Phil made me really want to try the new one. But I have to get the the first one before I buy this one.
I definitely contributed to that 2 million. Alan Wake is a great game and if I hadn't tried the demo for Alan Wake's American Nightmare I might never have found my way to the original masterpiece. If any of you out there haven't played it, pick that thing up. It's an incredible experience.
I finally got around to buying this a few months ago. I have yet to open it due to my backlog of games. But I am looking forward to getting to this as soon as I can.
Alan Wake was an awesome game, I am glad to see more people are enjoying it as well
