Epic Games Betting On Flash

by Jim Reilly on Mar 07, 2012 at 03:36 PM

Epic Games one day hopes to see last year's Samaritan demo running in your browser.

VP Mark Rein gave a presentation at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco today showing off some of Unreal Engine's new tricks. Of the highlights included demos of Epic Citadel, Dungeon Defenders, and Unreal Tournament III running at full screen in Adobe Flash. Rein concluded saying he hopes to have next-generation graphics found in the Samaritan demo from last year's GDC presentation to run in Flash.

You can check out the Epic Citadel Flash demo right here, though it doesn't seem every browser is supported just yet.

As for Samaritan, Epic Games now has the demo running on one, unannounced Nvidia Kepler card as opposed to the three GTX 580 cards they needed last year.

Unreal Engine 4 was not demoed to press at GDC, but Rein promised we'd likely see it sometime this year.
