PlayStation Move Ships 10.5 Million

Sony provided an update on how well PlayStation Move is doing since release. During a panel at the Game Developers Conference this week, the company said it shipped 10.5 million units to date.

Gabe Ahn, Sony's field developer support engineer, did not provide a specific sell-through number, however. He did note that PlayStation Move was "successful" for Sony and that the motion controller is still in the company's plans for the future. Wether that means we'll continue to see support for titles on PlayStation 3 or if it's incorporated into Sony's next home console is not known.

The latest PlayStation Move exclusive title Sorcery is coming May 22, 2012. During the panel, it was noted the game has been in development for three years.

  • This is my first time being first... First I'd like to thank the first person who first saw me, my mothers doctor.

Also, I thought the move was doing much worse than this. I would have expected around 5 mil.
  • thats a lot but like the kinect it has not been utilized and is difficult to utilize in major games

  • i wish bf3 had move suport.

  • good job sony. another 10.5 million and you'll put a dent in those losses.  lol.

  • Ahh, good for Sony. It's the only motion control dealy I don't have. Not in a big hurry to get it, though.
  • Not a big Playstation Move fan (though Sports Champions is really fun), but Sorcery is gonna be awesome.
  • I'm surprised it's doing so well... I thought it wasn't. It's not that it's bad, but there are only a couple of good games for it. (ex. Killzone 3)
  • Well Yipee. I don't have a Ps3. Should i get one?
  • Sorcery is still planned?!? I remember sooo looking forward to it, but then it dropped off the face of the earth, gllad to hear its still out there.

  • I just got the LBP2 Move Bundle for $80.  I figured it was a good deal.  Still haven't set up the Move yet...

  • Honestly did not know the move did so well. I never really got into myself. But now that I think about it, it could be fun to just into some Killzone 3 with the move.

  • That's amazing considering there's nothing good for the device.

  • Regret buying the thing tbh.... It feels forgotten with the focus on vita and all. I might trade it in and put it towards a vita :)

  • Does this mean 10.5 million individual items, or 10.5 million sets? If everyone bought enough items to allow 2 people to use the Move at the same time, isn't that 5 different items? Does that mean there are 2-4 million households? This needs some clarification... With Kinect, you know exactly what the units sold means. With Move, it's a bit more ambiguous.
  • Now let's see them pat themselves on the back for all the great games which support it.
  • good nummbers still not getting one though :/

  • Alright!... now lets drop the price so I can buy them!
  • If the prices were lower, OR THE BUNDLES CAME TO AUSTRALIA, I would get one.

  • Moved, not sold. Not the same. Pretty much like Move is to ship as Kinect is to sell.
