Cringe At The Acting In This MLB 2K12 Ad

Swimsuit model Kate Upton is busting Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander's chops in this live-action ad for 2K's perfect game contest for this year's baseball sim.

As a Joe Mauer fan I shouldn't cast any stones at an athlete's acting, but I can't help myself. On the plus side: Mustaches, fake or not, are pretty awesome...and I can respect an attempt to impersonate Randy Johnson.

MLB 2K12 comes out tomorrow, so you can get cracking on your attempts to throw a perfect game and win a million dollars soon. Good luck.

  • Go Tigers!
  • I'd let Kate Upton rip my mustache off anyday.....if I had one!
  • I didn't even notice Justin Verlander because I was too focused on Kate Upton
  • Looking forward to the 2012 baseball season! Let's go, Rangers! Third time's the charm!

  • The acting does indeed suck... but I wouldn't let Kate Upton rip my stache off... she could ride it though XD
  • i saw this commericial today on ESPN and the acting wasnt that bad.

  • His acting isn't bad at all. It's quite good for the three lines he has. Unless you're specifically referring to his impersonation. I don't even know who he was impersonating.
  • Excuse me I got a little Troll 2 in my Baseball

  • Ewww, creepy. Why is this the commercial for a sports game? I'm weirded out.

  • His acting wasn't that bad... but the commercial was just straight cheesy. Although, from a marketing perspective nobody really cares about the product. Just throw a hot girl in there and it will serve its purpose. Yes, guys really are that simple...
  • I hate bad acting.

  • Cringe at the acting in this commercial, or cringe at the quality of MLB 2K?

  • Wow, that was bad. Also, weird. Who are they advertising to with this?

On a side note, I have a friend who looks exactly like Verlander. It's uncanny. We actually got stopped coming out a Tiger's game once by the Detroit News. They ended up taking his picture and posting it in the paper under a Tiger's article with a little "look-alike" story.
  • "Rated E for Everyone" (boobs, sexual innuendo, general inappropriateness). nice...
  • uh if this is marketing then i we as a society need to look at ourselves and say, is this really what we have lowered ourselves to?
  • I'm sorry, but I've watched this several times and still haven't noticed Justin Verlander.

  • Bad yes, but it's Upton sooo... yeah

  • I hate these types of advertising, and the comments of this article just make me facepalm even harder.
  • I wouldn't say the acting is bad...just the extremely choppy writing...
