The lights are on
It seems the purported Doom 4 images that leaked earlier this week are in fact from the game, but id Software says they are not indicative of the final product.
"Those images have nothing to do with what you're gonna see in Doom 4," said design director Matt Hooper on Twitter. "When we officially show things you'll see awesome...fans will be happy."
On Tuesday, more than 170 images surfaced on the Internet that includes art assets, character models, and environment set pieces. Rumors of the game's cancellation continue to be false as parent company Bethesda confirmed recently Doom 4 was still in development.
Yay, I can't wait to "see awesome".
I wonder of Doom 4 is going to be a remake of Doom 2, because Doom 3 was a remake of Doom 1(in a way).
can wait!! i love doom!!!
Rage 2 anyone?
Looks pretty good actually
Bottom part of the picture with the older building looks a lot like God of War
Could these leaks be hinting towards an E3 official announcement?
All iknow is i like the art direction, so i hope they stick with it.
Geez, those pics were amazing and he said that we are ABOUT to see something awesome!! Can't wait.
I can see the title now...:
Doom 4: Hell on Earth...Again.
;-)
Man i would love to see something about this game already. loved 3 and i believe 4 will be monsterous. especially since id said that rage was just a starter game for the tech 5 engine.
If Doom 4 got cancelled I would be one very unhappy gamer. I love Doom 3 but they cant just close the series with that installment.
Ahh, sweetness!
Yay for Matt Hooper!
That's good. If this is Doom, it's lacking a whole lot of things that define that series. It needs WAY more fire & brimstone, and satanic imagery, and Eldritch Abominations (link: tvtropes.org/.../EldritchAbomination). And the darker, shadowy, creepiness that Doom 3 had, too.
This stuff just looks too similar to a hundred other shooters that take place in ruined cities, which - thanks to stupid military games - are all of them, practically. It looks VERY similar to FEAR 2 and 3 there, and noticeably less good than Rage, despite running on the same tech. I personally was hoping to hear that these were old, unfinished areas that needed a few more passes, so I'm happy to hear this.
At least we now know for sure that Doom 4 is continuing on Doom 3 "soft reboot" thinking. If Doom 3 was the same story/premise as Doom, than it's clear Doom 4 is going to cover the same territory as Doom 2: Hell on Earth. Which is cool. Never really got much of a different "flavor" from Doom 2, despite the supposed change in setting. If id every returns to make Quake V, I'd love to see them treat that as a remake of sorts of Quake 1.
Can't wait to see this in action! I love id - Quake 2 is still the best shooter ever made in my book, and nothing beats Quake 3 multiplayer. Even Rage, a game I didn't buy until recently thanks to it's price drop on PS3, was a really, REALLY awesome game that wasn't as derivative of other post-apocalypse games as I had thought. These guys ONLY make fun, pretty games! And bring far more creativity to them than all the military shooter developers in the world combined!
I've been missing doom for a while
