I dont know much about hardware stuff; but i can safely assume that sony will create a product that will last for a long time in terms of tech specs and just generally having a long lifespan. I bought my ps3 3 days after release day and nothings happened to it so far. Sony will chill back then make the best out of their hardware :)

It is probably for the best. Third party developers seem to have a hell of a time trying to optimize their games on the PS3's ass-backwards hardware. Now that the rumors seem to point towards Sony going with a more traditional console design, maybe we will see developers actually designing their console games based around both systems instead of developing on the more developer-friendly 360 and then porting to the PS3, like it is usually done now.

Whoa! That's pretty surprising. Goodbye backwards compatibility. The emotion chip in PS2, the Cell engine in PS3, I wonder buzz word they call this next chip in the PS4?

Doesn't surprise me. Sony did themselves no favors with the 6 cell tech beyond their exclusive titles. They ended up getting a bunch of xbox ports because developing for it was a pain in the ass according to developers.
