Purported Doom 4 Images Surface

A number of screenshots that appeared online recently are believed to be from id Software’s upcoming shooter, Doom 4

According to reports, the images surfaced from environment artist Thao Le's online portfolio, which has since been taken down. There's over 170 images made up of art assets, character models, and scenery.

We don't know yet if these images are from Doom 4 or possibly another unnamed id Tech 5 project. Bethesda would not comment on whether or not these images are related to Doom 4. The company assures, however, that the game is still very much in development.

    I can't tell if that's concept art for Doom 4 or Detroit.

    Sweet, always up for another Doom game, no matter how good or bad I think it will be. Some series are just classics and have to be played every time they come out.

    Most of the images look more like terrorists than marines or aliens, but hey, like I said, I've got to buy some games no matter what.

    Ugh, I hope not. These sights have been all too familiar in games as of late, and I would really hope they would mix it up a bit for Doom 4.

    Unfortunately, I'm also aware that project leads (Hollenshead I believe) have mentioned in the past that Doom 4 is likely to take place on Earth.

    This, however, is not the futuristic industrial complex state of Earth I would think the minds of id would come up with for a Doom game.

    Seems like this is based on Earth, more of a hell on earth situation. The characters have a post apocalyptic fashion to them which seems like it evokes a survivalist tone. Could be interesting, hopefully it is, I have always liked the doom franchise. Maybe this time though we can use our flashlight and gun at the same time :s

    Well Doom 3 was a reboot based off the first Doom, so Doom 4 might be based off Doom 2, which was set on Earth.

    Will have to download when I'm at home. The first page of screenshots could be from lots of things. For id though I'd say they look more Rage than doom.

    The art used above the GI article definitely looks like a Doom II retelling. Hell on earth complete with mass destruction and what could be flocks of lost souls in the air.

    RAGE was ok. I think they learned their leason and wont take 4 or 5 years to finish it once they announce it.
