Activision Details Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection Pack

by Jeff Marchiafava on Feb 29, 2012 at 06:56 AM

We've known for a while that Activision was cooking up a DLC pack for Modern Warfare 3 players who aren't subscribed to Elite. Today, we learned what content will be included, and when players can expect to get their hands on it.

The Modern Warfare Content Collection #1 was first announced during Activision's February investor call, at which time the publisher stated that the DLC pack would include content previously restricted to Call of Duty Elite members. We speculated that this would include the Liberation, Piazza, and Overwatch maps, the first three content drops that Elite players have received. Today, Activision revealed that in addition to these maps, Content Collection #1 will contain the next batch of Elite DLC as well. This includes a new multiplayer map entitled Black Box, which takes place amongst the wreckage of Air Force One in a California neighborhood, and two Spec Ops missions entitled Black Ice and Negotiator, which have you planting explosives in a diamond mine and extracting hostages in India, respectively.

Content Collection #1 will be available on Xbox Live on March 20, and at a later, unspecified date for other platforms. Call of Duty Elite members will still get access to Black Box, Black Ice, and Negotiator early, as the content will be available on March 13. Activision did not state a price for the Content Collection #1 pack, but Elite members will receive it for free. Activision also stated that it has three more packs planned for the future. If each one contains as much content as this first pack, players will have plenty to keep them busy, regardless of whether they subscribe to Elite or not.
