Facebook Vita App Pulled

After users reported numerous errors, PlayStation has pulled the Facebook app for the Vita.

"The Facebook application for PS Vita is not available at this point in time," Sony said in a statement given to Game Informer. "We are currently looking into this to restore it to normal operational status.  We will announce further details when ready."

Eurogamer first reported that the app had been removed from the European store. When users attempt to log into Facebook through the app they see error code NP-13144-3 and are unable to do anything but close the program.

  • Is that really the ui for the vita? It looks terrible...what was wrong with the xmb?
  • Social Media apps and other internet applications have always been bad on mobile gaming devices.
  • Which is exactly why im waiting a while to get mine. Price drop, bugs are worked out and more features. Oh and games that I havent already bought for my psp and ps3.
  • For those wondering, this is not Sony's fault, there was a change to Facebook that is causing errors with the app.

Here's a quote from Sid Shuman, "Yep, there was a change to FB and it’s causing some issues with the app. Should be resolved soon!"

It's fine with me, because I hate Facebook. I really DO NOT LIKE Facebook. I really don't understand a person's obsession with posting their life on it for the world to see.
  • is it just me, or do all facebook apps suck? jeez that iphone app is godawful, same with the droid one. and the messager app never works. ever. at all.

  • Ouch... people are going to get antsy without being able to check status updates on their gaming device.

  • Sucks. They should of had tested all this weeks before the release. Right now it seems Sony is just now getting everything out the door. This launch is almost feeling like a Beta.........
  • Covering another hack, Sony? I'll be nice and take the "buggy app" story.
  • facebook always makes terrible apps

  • At least they are amending to it. Things like this can't always be fixed beforehand. :|

  • Eh, doesn't need it anyway.  It's a console, just give us games.

  • While vacuuming out a car today at my job, I saw a kid playing the vita (my first time seeing it in action). As expected, uncharted was on the screen and I have to say I'm really impressed. Who needs facebook?

  • so, I wasn't the only person having problems, and I'm glad to hear that's getting fixed. but how do I erase it?

  • so whats the sale numbers on the vita so far in america.

  • What a surprise, something else on the vita isn't working. This is why I have a 3DS.
  • People actually spent their money on a Vita to do Facebook? that's just sad.
  • There's always problems when something first launches. I'd say give the Vita some slack.
  • But "CORE GAMERS" wont be able 2 show every1 that they are "CORE GAMERS"!!! You would think Sony would test the product in another country for a month or so 2 fix the problems, Oh W8... Never mind!!!

The sad part about it, is alot of Europeans & Americans are piss @ Sony right now!!! I'm sure this will help sales... Yeah, just flying off those shelves...
  • I didn't download it until today and never did get a chance to see it in action yet. I heard good things about the layout though. Hopefully it gets fixed. Until then, at least LiveTweet works.
