Buy Killzone 3's Multiplayer Separately

Next week, you'll be able to buy the multiplayer portion of Killzone 3 without having to purchase the full game.

As revealed on the PlayStation Blogcast yesterday, players can download the Killzone 3 multiplayer for free and play until they reach a level cap. After hitting the level cap, it will cost $14.99 for the full multiplayer game.

Pricing details were not revealed at this time.

  • Wow this is great. All FPS need this.
  • This is ridiculous!!
  • It seems like with the startlingly low amount of quality that goes into the singleplayer portions of modern first person shooters, they might as well just start doing this with every shooter at launch.
  • I guess that's better than buying the full game alone. I mean, it's a great game, but I'd rather just have multiplayer.
  • Amazing game! Amazing idea!
  • Hopefully this will revive the online KZ3 community. The MP in this game has got to be in the top %5 of great MP gameplay
  • Single player was shallow and one-dimensional.
Multiplayer is unbalanced, and lost much of what made KZ2 special.'
I would only recommend this if you just want awesome graphics and great artstyle.

I do like the idea of this, campaigns usually are trash (BF3 for example), I wish more games did this.
  • They need to do this with more games. I think publishers should release the game at retail for about $35 and lock out the multiplayer. To be able to play the multiplayer you pay 20$. That way it's cheaper for the person that only wants the single player and still cheaper for the person that only wants the multiplayer. And the opposite would work aswell(lock out the single player).
  • That's pretty cool. I wonder how long until it's an option at the launch of a game. I just wanted to kill Rico the whole time I was playing the single player because he's just horrible for so many reasons.
  • Ohhh thats real cool. 15 bucks kinda sucks after hitting the level cap but whatever. Its still cool.
  • although this is kind of dumb i think this is a good idea. because the multyplayer is what made killzone so great. i didn't even finish the campaign it was so boring. but i played the hell out of that multiplayer
  • Yay I dont have to buy it again!

  • Okay now this actually interests me since I think the single player is a load of crap due to those sorry excuses for characters.
  • That's a great idea.  It broadens their available audience by doing this, but I feel like it's a little too late for this to be coming out.  Not very many people are going to notice it because the game is a year old and amongst the white noise that is the FPS market, this will be hard to hear.

  • Well, I guess it's better than murdering the single-player outright... we'll get there someday.

  • I think they are doing this to promote Cross-Play between Vita and PS3. It's a great thing!
  • I really hope that this isn't the future, I love this idea of giving people a chance to play the multi-player a while after its initial release, but if they start selling games in pieces(SP only, MP only, Co-Op only, etc) I will stop buying them. And don't give me that "They are already doing it man, just look at DLC" crap, that is completely different.
  • Hmm... I've wanted this game ever since I got my PS3, so should I buy the full game or the multiplayer?
  • I think this is a cool idea, especially for games where you don't care about the single player (I'm looking at you Battlefield)

  • could be a good idea for players who just look for a multiplayer experience rather than a campaign one. But lets hope this doesnt trend into companies releasing their games in pieces, i.e. Call of Duty MW4 the campaign Experience and Call of Duty MW4 the Multiplayer Expierence
