The lights are on
A rumor has surfaced courtesy of some former AMD employees who say that Sony is going with AMD for the PlayStation 4's GPU.
Forbes has the short and sweet tidbit, which simply states, "[AMD] may play a key role in the new product."
It's worth noting that Sony competitor Microsoft used AMD for the Xbox 360.
Neither Sony nor AMD will comment on the matter.

Well that's interesting. I've always preferred nVidia over AMD myself but hey whatever they wanna use. I own both current systems and never really cared which one the consoles use cause within years they are out of date anyways. Oh well maybe this will help them? Idk. Will see.
