After a generations-long hiatus, we're approaching the return of Kid Icarus on March 23rd. With the release date only a month away, Nintendo is beginning to reveal more details about the game's features. Today's press release from the company details two multiplayer modes, which you can read about below.

Light vs. Dark - Two teams of three battle until their opposing team's health meter is depleted. Once this occurs, the last defeated player turns into an angel. Teams win by defeating the other's angel.

Free-For-All - This mode supports six players, and bots can fill roles if there aren't enough people. This mode sounds like a standard deathmatch, with a scoring system based on kills vs. deaths.

Both of these modes are available via local play or online. Players will be able to earn weapons in the multiplayer modes, and these can be fused together at something called the Arms Altar. These unique weapons can then be shared via the 3DS StreetPass function.

Also noted in the press release is a pre-order incentive that grants owners a code for a 3D Classics version of the original NES title.

seems like pretty standard stuff (which is a good thing.) Although, the whole angel thing in light vs dark could be pretty interesting.

I can't wait to play this game! While only two modes may get a little old, I've seen a lot of videos on it it looks really fun. So glad I pre-ordered this game

This new information is making me want Kid Icarus: Uprising so bad! These multiplayer modes sound so good! Plus, online multiplayer makes it even better! I am mainly excited for the Light vs. Dark mode. That mode sounds so fun! I can't wait for this game to come out, and, hopefully, Nintendo will continue the Kid Icarus franchise instead of ditching it.

I am so stoked for this game now! The only complaints I'v eheard so far are some problems with the controls (which you get used to over time I assume) and possibly unfocused single player. Still, this game looks like it'll just be plain FUN to play, and that's what's most important.

Persoally I am pretty pumped for the game to come out. I used to play the NES version and will be nice to see the new design and in 3D to boot!

Multiplayer looks decent, I mean it's a DS game so they can only do so much. Will be exciting to see how it all plays out!

ooooooomg this game is gonna sick love how the multiplayer works it remind me of super smash bros. in away but cant wait for this kid multiplayer is going to be blast as well as the story mode
