The lights are on
Frictional has officially unveiled their new game, and it's a sequel to their surprise hit Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Subtitled A Machine For Pigs, the announcement was made during an interview with Joystiq.
It should arrive on PC during 2012, and the game will be developed by thechineseroom. "It's not a direct sequel, in terms of it doesn't follow on from the story of Amnesia," says writer Dan Pinchbeck. The new game will be set in 1899, and follows an industrialist that returns from an ill-fated expedition to Mexico.
If you played Frictional Games' surprise hit Amnesia: The Dark Descent, we hope you've emerged from that fetal position by now. If you have, you'll be pleased (or terrified) to learn that the developers apparently have something else up their sleeves.
A new teaser site (found at nextfrictionalgame.com) doesn't say much, but the Amnesia mention makes us wonder if it's a full-on sequel. Interestingly, if you click on the image, it takes you to this Google map of China. No hints regarding what that's about, but we're curious to see what the studio has in store next.

Sweet news for the fans! Never played the game, nor do I intend to, considering I don't see in point in horror stuff; I mean, I know some people like being scared but not me.
That said, I have watched Toby's LP of this, so if he plays their next title, oh joy :P
if you clich while youre crusor is on the A of amnesia you get shanghai 0_0
I've been fortunate enough to be able to play Amnesia on my friends Mac. It's probably the most innovative horror game I've played in quite a while. Having no weapons and relying on whit and puzzles to make it through really puts the scare factor back into the game. If this is a sequel, and I finally invest in a decent computer, I'll be sure to pick this up.
I can't even bring myself to play the first one, but I'm glad that they're still making a sequel.
Scariest. Game. Of. All. Time.
I wonder if Daniel will be in this, or if it has anything to do with orbs, or Alexander for that manner. Also, they have to make even scarer monsters, since The Gatherers were made by Alexander only. Also, I will have to get a rock boone.
Best news of the year!
I'm quite terrified of China, actually.
I'd cool if it was a spiritual sequel with a creepy story that has something to do with creepy Chinese mythology.
Amnesia was truly terrifying, as well as horrifying. I love that game, and tell anyone remotely interested in scary games to play it. I can't wait for a sequel, for me it'd probably be a day one purchase.
OH GOD NO PLEASE GOD NO. I vowed to play Amnesia, and now I'm going to have to play this, too...
I kinda wanted to play amnesia, but then decided that I would need sleep to function.
