The lights are on
A new free-to-play, strategy-focused MechWarrior game is due out later this year for the PC.
MechWarrior Tactics is a new turn-based game set in the BattleTech universe in the year 3025. Players can customize their mechs and go online to battle.
“MechWarrior Tactics delivers a powerful combination of skill, planning, and combat methodology coupled with great collectability,” said executive producer Tarrnie Williams. “We’re truly excited to introduce a new style of gameplay to MechWarrior fans everywhere.”
Here's a breakdown of the game's features:
Earn Experience and new resources as you advance your level through gameplay Upgrade and customize your Mechs in your Mech Bay Make the most of each Mech's unique configuration for total battlefield domination

Looks cool, I wonder if I can run it though. I should be able to since the only PC game I play is Battlestar Galactica Online right?
I'm nervous about free to play things, especially strategy games.
I'd hate to see like "Sure this game is free to play, but you need to pay 1.99 per ton for any mech over a Jenner."
Could be cool. Depends on execution
"Reign of Thunder"
Learn about it.....
Mech+Warrior+Strategy=BAM=MechWarriors Tactics.
Yes while it was announced yesterday many of us knew about it i already made an account before this story and knew that mechwarrior would be a free to play strategy game
Yeah, I already registered the name "Commander Garrus."
Hope this is out around summer when my game playing turns into replaying games for second and third playthroughs lol
Commander Merryman. <3 'Cuz I'm a merryman. :D
This totally looks like a ported shiny version of the game Front Mission on the PS1. Which is cool I guess, I mean I personally loved that game, I guess I was just expecting something more.
Still waiting on more news of what happened to the new Mech Warrior reboot title that was supposed to come out for X360 PS3 and PC that they were talking about like a year ago.
Sweet nectar! Big mech game fan but it's been a long while before I've had a reason to pick up this genre again. I, like others, am not a fan of "free" to play. The term is misleading and the pricing structure is wraith with conflicts of interest between players and the devs. I will wait to read reviews and research the pricing setup.
Wooooooahhhhhaaaa could this be the long awaited remake of the legendary classic Amiga game MechForce?
