Funcom's The Secret World Revealing Itself In June

Originally scheduled for an April launch, Funcom has announced that the modern-day conspiracy theory/horror MMO The Secret World will now be arriving on June 19.

According to a post on the official Secret World website, the extra development time will be used "in order to apply even more polish before launch." Funcom also brags that over 750,000 people have signed up to beta test The Secret World, and nine out of ten beta testers surveyed say they'll be playing the game at launch.

Secret World creative director Ragnar Tørnquist says the developer will be doing more beta testing on the game in the mean time, including "several public beta events."

I'm definitely personally very interested in The Secret World and looking forward to checking it out during one of these beta events soon. For more on the game, check out my impressions from Gamescom.

Comments
  • If they're revealing it, will they still be calling it The Secret World?
  • cool. a mmo buildt around a different premise than knights or elves... i might check this out.
  • This looks fun, I might have to check out the public betas when they hit.

  • This game looks sweet and I am not typically into MMOs. Got to admit that I had one too many(delicious Nugget Nectar from Troegs Brewery)as on my first read I thought it said it needed more 'Polish' (as in the being of the country Poland) before launch. LOL, I am so stupid sometimes.
This game gives me a 'Lost' vibe which is cool.
  • looks very unique, and thats one big beta test! hah

  • Now this is the MMO I am interested in, not GW2

Even thought to be fair, they are different....

  • If this doesn't have a monthly subscription, I'll be interested.... Guild Wars have proven to me, you can have a great AAA game, without paying a monthly fee. Old MMO designs are old.
  • This thing's been going on for years now. I was always interested in it, but it's taking a while
  • It has an original premise, i'll give it that.

  • My appreciation for The Longest Journey compels me to give Tornquist's MMO a shot.

  • bring it to console and then we're talking

  • Funcoms association with this product would make me wary to go anywhere near within at least a year or two of its initial release after the debacle that was AOC's launch
  • I was wondering what happened to this MMO, not sure if it was still being developed. I'm glad to hear that it's still up and running. I'm very interested in trying this out.

  • Ofcourse your very interested Phil Kollar, your an MMO junkie =P Thanks for the Game Informin though.

  • reminds me on a modern jade empire...hmmm

  • Ohhhhh... Nice! I wanna play it!

  • Where are the video & links IGN!!!

  • Looks dead islandesqu in graphis, and guns, so might be worth a buy.

  • The Secret World, huh? I think it's better if some secrets remain hidden.

  • That picture reminds me of Wolferstien.
