Rumor: Mass Effect-Themed Costume DLC Coming To Final Fantasy XIII-2

Late last year, we heard that Final Fantasy XIII-2 would be receiving Assassin's Creed clothing for main character Noel as DLC. That seems strange enough, but apparently Square isn't stopping the cross-company, cross-franchise add-ons there. A new rumor suggests that Mass Effect costume DLC is on the way for FF XIII-2.

SiliconEra is reporting this rumor from "a source," with no follow-up information on if the costume will be for Serah or Noel, when it will be released, or how much it might cost. With the release of Mass Effect 3 right around the corner, presumably we'll hear confirmation soon if this is legit.

Here's the real question, though: Who is spending money on dressing up your characters when it doesn't affect the gameplay at all? Maybe if the Mass Effect costume came with a rocket launcher to use in combat or something....

  • EA + Square = the sum of all evil.
  • Sadly, this won't help save the game for me... why has their writing become so shallow?!

  • I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite outfit on Cocoon.
  • Unfortunatley after the review for this game, my interest in this game and it's predecessor lasted about a week. Then i played Alan Wake!

  • whats next? darth vader as playable dlc
  • I may not be into the FF series, but even i think that this is just plain crazy.

  • I'm starting to get the feeling Japanese developers have a different idea of what the term DLCs mean. Apparently, they're just pointless incentives to dress up your in game characters like play dolls. At least that’s what I’m led to believe from the way FFXIII-2 treat their DLCs.

  • Strange, very strange indeed.

  • Awesome!

  • I wonder if this is what the creater of final fantasy had in mind when he said the the guy leading the creative team about stuff he does not

  • Still not interested in this game, time travel story lines just bother me a lot.

  • Meh. I'll pass. Dat bikini costume though. Hot damn.

  • Why would anyone do this, ever?

  • I'd complain about useless DLC if I did not plan on getting it.

  • Interesting!

  • *sigh* more pointless dlc :/

  • Yes, you know what I want in a cheap RPG with a poor story is a reminder of a good RPG with a good story that I could play instead...
  • Square made it all wrong. They announced that XIII-2 was to be updated with DLCs, but all they`re doing is releasing costetic stuff that should've come with the retail release =/

It's stupid to have a section of the menu named OUTFITS only to know that there are NO outfit in the game... only in DLCs. Not a single outfit. The same happens to the Serendipity city... it has only two minigames and an option for a third that says it's only when the DLC is launched.. wtf.

Seriously, what Gold Saucer had tons of minigames, some stupid, some fun, all simple, but a LOT. It's not that hard (or expensive) to make a few oldschool games in form of minigames =/ put a tetris, a card game, an auction house, whatever... =/

  • Why bring such epic DLC to such a crappy game? Why not save it for a more deserving title, such as any Final Fantasy besides one with XIII in the name?
  • So much DLC for this game.  A big change for the FF series...but also not done in a very smart way.
