Fake Pokemon App Removed

[Update]

Apple has removed all three games from the App store. If you ended up buying on of them, you can request a refund through your Purchase History.

[Original Story]

Buyer beware. One of the top-selling apps today on iTunes is a fake Pokemon game.

Dubbed "Pokemon Yellow," the game doesn't even work and is in no way related to the official Nintendo product. The app was uploaded by Daniel Burford of Home of Anime late last week.

"Shoulda read the bottom comments before purchasing, this is a scam. Crashes after main screen," read one customer review. The same company also recently uploaded fake versions of Digimon and YuGiOh+.

We contacted Nintendo and Apple for comment and when or if the Apps will be removed.

  • This is why I ALWAYS read the reviews.
  • That's sad:( I'm gonna go search it

  • LOL I feel bad for the guy who downloaded it, my question is does it cost one dollar or was it free? If it costs money, then that's not right man

EDIT: Damn you Daniel Burford! You ripped off thousands of people! This is why we can't have nice things!
  • Lol why dont people just emulate?
  • That's why you should never impulse buy. Look it up before you go out on a whim and make the purchase. Oh well, that's pretty lame that people would try to scam people like this
  • Daniel Burford needs a good kick in the yarbles
  • How on Earth do you have the guy's NAME and yet he didn't find himself sued out of house and home the second he put this up a WEEK ago?
  • I use installous before i decide to buy my games or not.
  • People are so stupid when they buy apps (like android style lock screens) that are clearly fake without reading the reviews first and then they complain about it afterwards.

  • Dang, I saw the Pokemon logo and got excited. Maybe that's the effect that happened to the people who got scamed. "OH Sweet Pokemon Yellow! HERES MY MOENY!" lol oh well

  • Srsioly, srsioly u giaz?
  • Daniel Burford used Fraud. It's super-effective! Customer is confused.
  • The *** is the point of it

  • Saw this app yesterday. I think people kind of have this coming if they don't read the reviews, and in some cases when "fake" apps are put up that clearly state what they do in the description it is really annoying when everyone demands their money back in the reviews, but this time the app dev just blatantly lies on the description, even putting up fake professional reviews, and that is just completely out of order.

  • Sorry, misread the first time. This guy, and others like "Top Best Adult Entertainment" (who are notorious for ripping off the names of popular brands and showing pictures from the actual games but delivering the worst, most simplistic game imaginable) should be punishable with fines/etc from Apple. Aren't they supposed to police their app store?

NEVER buy a iOS game from that company. Also, always read reviews. I will never buy an app with no reviews. Err on the side of caution is a prudent philosophy in this instance.
  • hahaha. That's what iphone users get. Getting all high and mighty claiming that this, and not 3DS or PS Vita, are what real handheld games are all about. You're all morons - like you know anything about video games people. Claiming the iphone is the future of handheld gaming is like saying Just Dance is the future of console gaming. This platform is for people who don't know s*it.
  • What a Dick.

  • LOL! Good thing I don't have anything Apple brand :)

  • Damn Black Hat Hackers... >:(

  • Why do anything when you can scam? People are suckers. They can't be bothered to check.
