Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter Tops $2 Million

In less than two weeks, Double Fine has already raised more than $2 million to fund its old-school adventure game.

With nearly 60,000 backers, the developer plans to use the additional funds to add voice acting, original music, localization, and more. Studio head Tim Schafer said last week the project, currently titled Double Fine Adventure, is coming (so far) to PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android devices.

  • That's so cool, congratulations!
  • Double Fine's Double Million!
  • Awesome! can't wait to see it

  • Lets just hope it is as great as these people want it to be. That is a ton of money to add to a game that only needed $400,000
  • $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SO MUCH! Ya, I trust Double Fine to make something great with that much additional starting capital. Its not like they don't have their own money to fund it as well.
  • Wonder what they'll do with all of the remaining money. BUY US ALL A COPY OF ME3 ~yay~

  • Sweet! I can't wait to see what they come up with. Maybe if this is successful we'll see a Kickstarter for Psychonauts 2.

  • Two people have actually pledged 10k! That's insane, I love Double Fine, but I don't think 1) I have nor ever will have enough money to blow 10k 2) that I would want to spend that much.
  • They should use the extra money for Psychonauts 2 or a Brutal Legend sequel

  • Not bad, Not Bad at all.

  • I don't understand the attraction to this developer.
  • Good to hear it's going well for them. ^_^

  • Congratulations to Double Fine!

  • Again, bring it to 3DS and Xbox 360.

  • it's upsetting how stupid gamers are as investors. they only needed 400k so it's all profit for Double Fine from here on out and gamers get no ROI other than the product itself. they're also investing on a product with no information other than who is making it (a good amount of faith gamers have with the "who" in this case) and the genre of the game. there's no proof of concept, not even a title. i support a direct relationship between consumer and producer -- depending on the project and the information available, i might throw some money at a kickstarter -- but this is a terrible case of it.
  • that game better blind people with awesomeness if they're getting paid 2 million dollars from their fans
  • congrats to double fine, they really earned it!!

  • Wow...that's amazing. I can't believe the overwhelming support these guys are getting, as well as the fact that they're doing SWEEPING CHANGES because of it. This is nothing but fan service, and I like how Double Fine is willing to run with however much money they get.

  • Trenched was a great game. Short but sweet. But I think they changed the name to Iron Brigade. Anyone know why?
  • I'm a console gamer, but this is one of those times where setting up a Steam account gives me the edge. For those of you that don't play games on PC. Set up a free Steam account and go buy a Logitech PC gamepad. You won't regret it. If you have doubts about your rig, don't worry. There are games like VVVVVV, that you could run on a standard Dell.
