In 52 weeks, the Nintendo 3DS handheld has gone from outhouse to penthouse as the system is the fastest system in Japan to hit the five million sold mark.
Despite its rocky beginning necessitating an unplanned price cut from Nintendo, Media Create sales figures in Japan report that the 3DS has sold five million units in 52 weeks.
This breaks the previous record set by the Nintendo DS, at 56 weeks.
