New Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition Trailer Does Little To Clarify

We're still a little confused by this crossover, but Pokemon have always been an adaptive species, able to exist in many genres and now eras, apparently.

Originally announced in December, Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition looks like it's going to be a turn-based strategy game that will release on the original DS. No word on a stateside release, but we like Pokemon nearly as much as Japan does, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it over here at some point.

  • woah!!!!

  • I ... I don't get it.
  • Half-naked chicks commanding small animals...?

Better not to ask questions.  Just accept.

  • I'm not surprised by this, but I wasn't able to understand what that Japaneses man was yelling at me, but I defiantly know it has to do with Pokemon.

  • I don't want new pokemon. I want my Charizard back and kicking ass in HD.
  • This actually looks pretty cool, despite being a little crazy. Hopefully it does come to NA, because I would certainly buy it.

  • Looks similar to the Pokemon Rumble Blast play style. The look of it does as well. I wonder if they are aiming for that. Looks pretty interesting either way.

  • I can't see this coming out here, even though we love Pokemon and Strategy games - just look at Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea. Maybe - MAYBE - Koei could tie it to DYNASTY WARRIORS instead of Nobunaga's Ambition. Both franchises deal with the same era and history, but Nobunaga's Ambition is such a non-franchise here; Dynasty Warriors is at least a well known, and relatively liked, property here in the west.

Sure, gamers (like myself) pick it apart for basically being the same mindless slog over and over again, but I don't think anyone wishes it ill will. It's not like it's Call of Duty, and it's taking sales from other, better, more unique games. It occupies it's own niche and we're all fine with that. Which is how games with a yearly release schedule that don't do anything to evolve should perform at retail. WTF is with Call of Duty's stupid, unwarranted success? It's aggravating as heck that so many gamers only seem to buy the same 3 franchises every year and ignore so many other, superior, games. To stay on topic, Dynasty Warriors is not part of that problem.

That's Koei's big franchise. If this gets localized (99% chance it won't), I bet they'll tie it to DW. That's all I'm saying.

  • I feel like the Japanese narrator just took a 30 second chance to yell and insult me -.-

  • Can't tell if trolling... or ridiculously Japanese.

What do Pokemon and (WHAT THE HECK IS A NOBUNGA!?!?!?) have in common? Why is this being released on the regular DS!?!?!? What the heck is happening with this release in any way that might possibly make sense???

  • it doesn't seem to look like a full on tactics game like people seem to think, to me it looks more like a sort of Dungeon Dice Monster type game

  • Pokemon with fire emblem gameplay :P I hope they release this game out from japan. >.< I WANT IT

  • my little brother saw this and die laughing

  • I'm starting 2 call pokemon pokeman yeahboady

  • Looks lame

  • ...No comprendo

  • Pokemon, with Final Fantasy Tactics gameplay? Shut up and take my money. Seriously, I want this.

  • This is one awkward crossover. I doubt I'll be buying Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition when/if it comes stateside.

  • I have heard a couple rumors about this. One person said it will be a type of avatar game. In that the Nobunaga characters are represented by a pokemon counterpart. So it would be more like a mystery dungeon game. The other rumor is that it's Nobunaga's ambition, but with the characters owning pokemon. IDK what is even going on anymore >_<

  • Whoaa anime overload. I've been a fan of Pokemon for over a decade now and I gotta say that I haven't played one spin-off yet. Maybe this could change that?

EDIT: I did own Snap and Stadium for N64. But this game is still a far cry from the realm of Pokemon possibilities.
