The lights are on
After 12 years at BioWare, and having a hand in numerous projects at the company – from the Mass Effect series to both Star Wars titles – lead writer Drew Karpyshyn has announced he is leaving the company.
Karpyshyn was co-lead writer on Mass Effect 2, and lead writer on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic, and in his blog he states his reason for leaving the company. "I’m leaving to focus more time and energy on my novels and other non-video game related projects," he says. "But even though I’ll no longer be working on games for BioWare, I’m not going to be severing all ties with them. Many of my closest friends still work at the company, and I’m also in the process of writing the next Star Wars: The Old Republic novel, though I can’t say too much about it yet."
Karpyshyn has also written novels for the Star Wars, Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate universes.
Good luck to Karpyshyn in all his future endeavors.

I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does next. Even though it won't be for what us gamers want, he'll spread his genius elsewhere for others to enjoy.
Best wishes. BioWare is IMO one of the best developers in the industry.
I only read one of his novels - Star Wars: Darth Bane Path of Destruction, & only part of Rule of Two. The Stories he wrote are good in my opinion.
Well, I hope he will still write the future Mass Effect novels!
Fare thee well, sir.
I really like his Mass Effect books, but it is a loss for them going forward if he is not writing for their games.
i hope the stories in thier games still stay the same quality
Looking forward to some more original content. He can depict a duel like none other.
I really liked the mass effect novels that he wrote, and I've heard that the new one that he didn't write had some major mistakes. It's a shame he won't be writing for Bioware, but good luck to him for whatever he plans on writing next.
Damn that sucks!
