The lights are on
Activision's collectible Skylanders figures are selling out as soon as they hit store shelves and the rarest of the rare figures are fetching top dollar in second-hand markets. An Ebay seller has already pulled in roughly $1,000 in an auction for six rare Skylanders figures. The auction still has two days to go, and it's anyone's guess as to how high the bidding will go. All six of the figures are rare silver and gold variants of core characters.
My wife and I are huge fans of the game, and we've made it a goal to collect all of the figures, but I doubt I'd pay more than $20 for one individual figure. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Buying figures online or at an auction is cheating, in my opinion. If you want EVERYTHING, including all of the rare variants, you really have no other option than to pay top dollar for them, as the current bid leader in this auction aims to do.

For that much money, I'd paint one or two any color they want. ha
Just plain crazy. It reminds me of Pokemon cards back when I was a kid and how much the 1st Editions went for. But to each his own. If they value these for $1000, then it must be worthwhile to them.
Why would anyone pay that much for a fad collectible? I guarantee that in 5-10 years no none will even care about Skylanders. Collectibles are supposed to stand the test of time...not depreciate.
My son wants this game, but this makes me very leery about getting it for him.
Well...if the money goes to some good cause. I'd won't mind. Yet really...spending that much is beyond me. I mean they are still in fact pieces of plastic with a chip in it. Heck after spending that much money. They won't be played. If people have this kind of money to throw around. How about putting it to better use.
Also who doesn't think that these could also be fakes? So easy to just paint something gold or silver and reseal it. Talk about a mad big spender once it is found out to be fake.
That's crazy. I wouldn't buy this stuff at all. They don't even look cool.
So this is the new thing that everyone must have
& they will never be played...
even if the gold looks like inside a newborns diaper...
Mother of God...
