EA Launching Mass Effect 3 Into Space. Literally.

Electronic Arts seems to be getting a little carried away with the whole space thing.

Starting next week, the publisher is launching copies of the game into space using weather balloons and will be releasing them in New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris.

Each game has a GPS tracking device so fans can follow their location as they descend to Earth a full week early before going on sale.

EA says it will provide more details on Tuesday next week.

Hmmm... as they descend to Earth. Reaper much?
  • maybe one will land in my pool and i can play it

  • That sounds awesome!

  • This is cool, I guess?

  • For what system?

  • Until the balloons break and the copies of the games smash violently into the ground, leaving the devoted fans to scrabble for all the pieces. And a handy new GPS.

  • This is crazy but very unique. I could imagine some guy just walking and BAM! ME3 on his head. He plays it and falls in love with it, thinking it was a gift from above lol.

  • spaaaaaaace!

  • Wow, what a useless but clever way to market your game.

  • You start the game in Vancouver, BC... and don't bother doing any of this in Canada...

  • that's awesome

  • holy cow that's awesome!!!!!!

  • Very cool.  Hopefully one works its way towards me.

  • mass effect 3 demo sucks so do all the other mass effects
  • mass effect 3 demo sucks so do all the other mass effects
  • One small steps for games; either one giant leap or a trip for the game industry. But in all seriousness, this is a sweet marketing event; Try to keep it from landing in Iranian turf... They would freak...
  • Well, thats different.

  • Now if one would just so happen to fall on my driveway that would be awesome!!! But seriously this is a unique and different approach, what if one lands in the ocean? Will the fish play it? LMAO

  • Well if it keeps going through space. May find out there are aliens out there and in fact are blue skinned and all woman. Boy makes you wonder if some game designers aren't Aliens also.

  • This is kind of silly in all honesty
