The lights are on
Despite terrible sales, Ubisoft said Rayman Origins was a profitable title.
"We believe Rayman Origins has the capacity to become a long-term seller for the company," added CFO Alain Martinez during an investor call this morning. In its debut month in the U.S., Rayman Origins only sold 50,000 copies, and the game quickly was marked down in price.
Ubisoft didn't provide an updated sales number for Rayman Origins during the call.
I sincerely hope it does well in the long run, Rayman Origins is an outstanding platformer.
Good. It would've been a shame if this series had gotten canned because the idiots (and let's be clear, they are idiots) in marketing at Ubisoft thought it would be a good idea to not advertise for this reboot and then release it on the same day as the release of a new entry in one of their established franchises (Assassin's Creed) - which they did market.
Good to hear, tt's a shame it didn't sell more though.
I have to admit, I did not contribute to those sales despite loving the demo (a situation I know I share with a bunch of gamers), but I still wish it would have sold more.
that is good
It's good that it made money it's a fantastic game
GR8, maybe we can get another soon... Fingers crossed!
I also haven't bought this game yet, but I have it preordered for next week with the vita, and if I enjoy it, I will also buy on PS3. It really is beautiful from what I saw on the demo.
Shame it didn't make more, I loved this game.
Fantastic game. I'm glad it didn't hurt Ubisoft.
Poor sales? Reduced price? That's no good.
Well, the reduced price is a little incentive. I think I'll grab this pretty soon.
How small was the budget then for this beautiful game? Great for them and great for Ancel. I could be the one to say "How 'bout that BG&E 2 now" but I'll say please let this mean more games like this, Ubi. Everything about this game is amazing and if you haven't bought or played this yet, you're a bad person and you should feel bad.
And it will make even more for the next few months as people get to it on their backlogs, vita and 3ds
If you don't own this, you should buy it. Now.
I'm glad they at least made some profit.
It's a great game and I'm sure when the Vita is officially released it'll make even more money.
Well, that's good news!
