The lights are on
Rockstar Games hasn't decided whether or not we'll see another game in the L.A. Noire universe.
As part of a recently published Q&A on its website, Rockstar confirmed there will no longer be any downloadable content for the game and that a new game in these series is a giant question mark.
"While there won’t be any more DLC or additional content for the current release of L.A. Noire (we’re all too busy working on Max Payne 3, GTA V and other games to come), don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future," the company said. "We simply have not decided anything.
"We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series. We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually – see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that – we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing."
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the game as "a powerful new franchise" in an earnings call last May. To date, L.A. Noire has shipped nearly five million copies worldwide.

Please make a second loves the first.
I enjoyed my time with it, though it was one of those experiences that if played too much in one sitting, would get stale. Great story and an achievement technically, though I think we should let the story of Cole Phelps die with him and explore a different story or universe with the same technology.
it would be pretty cool, not the best game but pretty cool.
I own the game but haven't got around to playing it yet. Based off what I've heard, a sequel would be well received.
guess we all have to wait and see. I hope so, this game is awesome
i would like to see a sequel in modern times in a different city then L.A.
Never played it, but it looks kinda ok
As a franchise I think L.A. Noire has a lot of potential. The facial technology is incredible, I just wish the heads looked more congruent with the bodies.
If they do, it definitely have to be set in the present (OR even better, the future) coming up with modern/futuristic techniques to solve crimes would be insane. but i wouldnt be counting on it for at least another 5 years....
Oh man, I hope they do make a sequel. Sure there were some things they could improve on, but L.A. Noire was one of the most unique gaming experiences I've had. I had a ball with that game.
As far as some of the comments about setting the game in a modern setting, I don't agree with that at all. You can't take the "noire" out of L.A. Noire. No matter how hard you tried to recreate the feeling in a modern story, it just wouldn't be the same.
Use the manpower for another Red Dead, more LA Noire can wait.
Well seeing as they released the Complete Edition, I didn't foresee any more DLC....
I hope they don't make a sequel and focus on some better games. Personally I thought it was rather boring. I usually like Rockstar's games, but it just wasn't quite what I was expecting. I only got about halfway through before I sold it.
Very good comment by the CEO. He has a way with the words.
the sequel I might play
I would love for another sequel to come. A couple of years would be fine, since then we would have the new console gen, and it wouldn't back the technology by then.
How will you make a second one? But I will still get the sequel.
