L.A. Noire Sequel Undecided

Rockstar Games hasn't decided whether or not we'll see another game in the L.A. Noire universe.

As part of a recently published Q&A on its website, Rockstar confirmed there will no longer be any downloadable content for the game and that a new game in these series is a giant question mark.

"While there won’t be any more DLC or additional content for the current release of L.A. Noire (we’re all too busy working on Max Payne 3, GTA V and other games to come), don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future," the company said. "We simply have not decided anything.

"We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series. We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually – see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that – we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing."

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the game as "a powerful new franchise" in an earnings call last May. To date, L.A. Noire has shipped nearly five million copies worldwide.

  • Yes Yes Yes YES!

  • I'd love to see a sequel. I just don't know if I want it in LA or not. On one hand, the city in LA Noire was amazing, but it felt very lifeless. I'd love a second game to expand on the amazing recreation in the first game by really making the world come to life. On the other hand, I'd also love to see them recreate another city in the past. Seeing New York or another city from the past holds alot of promise. Really a toss-up for me.

  • Well they know that if they do make a sequel its sure to sell an ass-ton like the first did.

  • Please, make a sequel...Please?

  • I really enjoyed the first one, but I thought that the amount of acting required would be pretty prohbitive.  I also thought that price drops came awfully quickly for this game.  We'll see.  I'd like to see another.

  • Although it was a good game and i wouldnt mind another i would rather have a red dead 2 or a new ip from rockstar.

  • i'd rather Rockstar work on something that I would enjoy more

  • thats great, but can we see a sequel to red dead redemption?!?!?

  • I definitely wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't another LA NOIRE. I was extremely disappointed with the first. Honestly, it's one of the only games I've ever sold before finishing... including games that I don't really like, I still usually at least finish them. I haven't played all of Rockstar's games, but of the ones I have I would definitely say LA NOIRE was the weakest and the only one I can remember that I didn't like.

  • Also, I don't see what all the hype was about with the motion-capture or whatever the proper name for it was. The faces only looked slightly better than the Mass Effect games to me.

  • I hope they make one, because I want more sluething and bad guy shooting.

  • I really hope they make a second one, I loved the first one and think a continuation in the detective style gaming could be great

  • Why is nobody else freaking over the fact that he just mentioned a Red Dead sequel.
  • A second one wouldn't be bad, but it would be hard to come up with a new main caracter.

  • Give us Bully 2 first.

  • and i just recently purchased the first one. Only finished a few cases though.

  • I think they should finish GTA 5 and then make a new noir so this way they will have a solid year or so of these projects to work on and earn money

  • Ahh, I hope they end up making another. I really enjoyed what it had to offer. =D

  • Great game and highly underrated. I think a sequel would be great if it just works out the few flaws in  the original.
