Remedy Planning More Alan Wake

The original Alan Wake is getting released on PC next week, and the downloadable side-story American Nightmare comes out the following week. After all that, developer Remedy has more in store for its writer-turned-action-hero.

Speaking to Joystiq, Remedy's CEO Matias Myllyrinne said "We'll certainly continue with Wake. Right now we're focusing on getting the PC out next week, then getting American Nightmare out. And it's too early to talk about what our next move is, but we've obviously put things into motion."

Remedy is adamant that even though American Nightmare expands on Alan Wake's universe, it's not a true sequel. We can only hope that the real Alan Wake 2 is somewhere in Remedy's plans.

  • Alan wake 2 for the 720 as a launch title with kinect 2.0, yea-NO. I wish though.

  • I would like it to be a launch for next gen. Please and thank you, Remedy.

  • Love alan wake but i would also love to see it on ps3
  • The more Alan Wake in this world, the better. If it's a launch title for the next Xbox, I will buy two consoles. Just because.
  • Mod

I'm just glad they're happy with the reception the game got that they're gonna go on. The story is well done, the characters are interesting, and the world as a whole is great. They clearly have an idea where they want to take it and I want to see what they have in store.

And while I'd love a true sequel like everyone else, it doesn't need to be a launch title for next gen. Take a while to get used to the system then put it out when it's the game it should be.

  • I still have to get the first.

  • what else could they do with the series game play wise? Maybe go the silent hill route and add a new main character and stick to the same setting.

  • I hope 2 releases on PC simultaneously...

  • cool i liked the first alan wake game so i am glad that there is going to be sequel.

  • Who are they trying to fool? We all know part two is coming out, it's just when..

  • Yay more Alan Wake.

  • Yes, I would like this. sometime soon would be nice, as well

  • Gotta love Alan Wake, but I'll love it more if its multiplatform, and I mean multiplatform. Not just 360 and PC

  • I'm not sure American Nightmare is gonna do since if focuses mostly on action instead of the horror aspect that made me love the first one so much.

  • It'll probably be a launch title for the next-box.

  • Given that Alan Wake is a microsoft exclusive, and how long the game was in development (5 years and many graphical and engine changes) AND the poor sales it had - my guess is that if we were to get a sequel (and I hope we do, it's a great story) they will position it as a launch title with the next gen console.

That way people not familiar with the Alan Wake brand are forced exposure to it - in fact the smart thing to do would even be to bundle part one with it (either on disc or as DLC).

    That's my 2C.

  • I like the ideas of it being a next gen game by some of the GI's

  • please no luanch for the next gen, or at least release it on xbox and give me time to get the next gen. I just got a 360, and am in college. You do the math. I must know if Wake survives!!!!
