Nintendo Teams Up With Dog To Promote Responsible Pet Ownership, Puns

by Jeff Cork on Feb 08, 2012 at 06:32 AM

Did you know that February is Responsible Pet Ownership Month? If it slipped your mind, you're in good company. Nintendo has decided to announce today (February 8, if you're keeping score) that it's working with a spokesdog to spread the message of healthy pet ownership. The dog is kind of a big deal, too.

If you watched The Artist, you might recognize Uggie. (No, he wasn't in Frasier. That's breedist.) Well, Uggie and his owner Omar Von Muller are going to be promoting Nintendogs + Cats and the positive messages players can learn about pet ownership by playing the 3DS game. Lessons like, for example, how cats enjoy wearing sunglasses.

"Uggie didn’t have to sit up and beg for his role as Nintendo’s spokesdog,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “It’s truly our pleasure to work with a star of Uggie’s magnitude, especially to help animal lovers and portable gaming fans discover the fun of Nintendogs + Cats.”
