The lights are on
Gotham City Impostors, the new Batman-versus-Joker-themed multiplayer shooter from Monolith, is going live on PlayStation Network today and on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow. While the game itself will cost a mere $15, it will apparently feature a shocking amount of downloadable content right from the start.
Prior to the XBLA launch, 105 pieces of DLC have showed up on the Xbox product page for Gotham City Imposters. Though most of the content appears to be strictly cosmetic (new shirts, pants, calling cards, etc.), Eurogamer reports that you can pay a small amount to purchase double XP boosts for the Games for Windows version. The double XP boost is not currently available for the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game.
All added up, if you wanted to get every single piece of DLC for Gotham City Impostors at launch, you'd have to drop a whopping $220 in addition to the $15 to purchase the game. Yikes.
Of course if all the DLC is cosmetic and optional, it may not be that big of a deal. We'll be digging into Gotham City Impostors over the next couple of days and will report our findings. Stay tuned for our review soon.
Glad it's only cosmetic.
