The lights are on
The name Alex Seropian may not be familiar to you, but it should be. Seropian was one of the founders of Halo developer Bungie back in the '90s before leaving the company to found Wideload Games. Last year, Seropian took over as head of Disney Interactive's game development as the company restructured. Now it looks like Seropian is leaving Disney altogether.
Game Informer has heard about the move for Seropian from a reliable source, though it's unclear where he will be going next. We expect an official announcement to be made later today.
Disney confirmed that Seropian has resigned. His position at the publisher will be filled by former Blizzard vice president Bill Roper.
Maybe he'll go on to make another great developer.
Oh Snap
That's interesting, best of luck to Alex S.
just go back to microsoft...
Maybe he'll go back to Bungie?
Well, i wish the best of luck to Alex and wherever he is planing to head next.
Geez, well they gutted that thing pretty good a few years ago. What was there for Seropian to do?
Maybe he was more interested in building devs up than breaking them down and cannibalizing them?
Anyway that's all DI is 'good' for anymore; getting one or two great games from a dev, totally mismanaging their release and then killing off the dev when those mismanaged games don't perform as expected.
Go back to Bungie! That sounds like a good idea to me
I herd walt disneys ghost still pops in every now and then to steal ideas like his former self did...
Maybe he'd still be there if they didn't cancel that original pirate of the Carribean, dumb move Disney.
A lot of big names have been moving away from their positions in game companies lately...
As long as they still have Warren Spector, and are investing in games like Epic Mickey, they'll be fine. But Disney really should be a bigger force in the gaming industry. Why the f*** are they having such a hard time of things?
I love this guy and wish he had never left Bungie. I bet he has good reasons for leaving Disney. I wish him the best.
