The lights are on
Rockstar San Diego, the studio that brought us games and franchises like Red Dead Redemption (above) and Midnight Club, is hiring for what it's labeling is an open world game.
Three new job postings at Gamasutra surfaced this weekend (and it looks like there are still some openings from last month) for tools, gameplay, and network programmers at the studio, and the later two specifically mention that they are seeking potential employees for an open world game.
Given Rockstar San Diego's franchises listed above – as well as PS2 launch title Smuggler's Run – any one of these would make for a cool game. Who knows, maybe it's even a new IP.
Email the author Matthew Kato, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
After Red Dead Redemption, I'm behind whatever this studio creates as long as they can create the kind of believable characters they did in Redemption.
A blend of RDR and LA Noire would be cool. Like where you're a sheriff and have to catch bandits using your detective like skills, which ends up leading to shootouts anyways.
Being a recent yet strong fan of R*'s work, I cannot wait to see what the future may yield from them.
I'd have to see some of their other works before I make judgements. Oh wait
Its a sequel to Midnight Club im calling it.......this studio will probably switch off from sequels to Midnight Club and Red Dead for now on
New IP ftw.
Red Dead is played out with it's ending and Noire barely made it to release. I loved both but the thing that made them awesome was partly due to the fact that they themselves were new IPs.
Rockstar specialise in the ridiculous yet grounded. I would expect a depature with Max Payne and GTA on the horizon, i'm interested in them putting their story telling skills into something fantasy based.
I sure hope its Red Dead if its a sequel, don;t get me wrong Midnight Club was fun and all, but Red Dead was mind blowingly awesome.
Pretty awesome. I'm pretty sure they'll do an RDR 2 eventually since it was both a critically aclamied and sold well and I'll love it, since I think the original is one of the best games of this generation, but to be perfectly honest I'd rather have Rockstar work on Bully 2...I still consider Bully to be my favourite Rockstar game ever.
I wonder will this new open world title be a new IP or a sequel?
so how many R* studios are there? i went blank -__- all i know is that i buy anything with R* on the bottom right corner of a case ......
I want a sequel to RDR but I dont think theres anything that would further enhance the story....its already amazing as is.....unless out of no where Jack becomes a bada$$.....
as for Bully i would definitely be all over it!!!!!
looks like R* is going to have a lot of my time this and next year!!!
Red Dead Revenge, please!
Midnight Club would be great
All I know is that Rockstar publishes and has developers make damn good games.
as great as red dead 2 would be, I feel like a new open world ip would be even better. If the later is the case i would expect it to be for the next gen. of consoles.
Bully 2. Do it!
I do want a new Read Dead, but a new IP would be good too. Decisions, decisions...
I hope it is a new red dead.
Another open world Rockstar game? Yes please!
Great news, either a new IP or Red Dead would be preferable.
