Microsoft Flight Release Date

The casual, free-to-play approach to Microsoft Flight Simulator is available later this month, the company said today.

Microsoft Flight releases February 29 for free at www.microsoftflight.com with optional content packs for purchase, including the Hawaiian Adventure Pack, which has the remaining Hawaiian Islands, a new plane and 20 new missions for 1,600 Microsoft point ($20).

“There was an overwhelming demand for access to the ‘Microsoft Flight’ beta and the number of requests was far more than what we initially planned for,” said executive producer Joshua Howard. “We received amazing feedback from the beta participants and it’s great to see this level of excitement from fans as we move toward the release of ‘Microsoft Flight.”

  • In the words of Peter Griffin, "Oh my god! Who. The. Hell. Cares?!"
  • I got out of cryogenic storage for this?

Unfreeze me when they make a game as equally exciting as Garbage Truck Simulator.

  • Whoa, now they take to the air; um...

  • I just hope the game is better optimised this time... X was too much of a strain on my pc, 2004 one ran smoothly on very high, FSX barely ran on low for some reason so I couldn't realy play it.

Hmm maybe I am the only one with the problem but it is still a problem for me... hopefully I can build a new pc soon.

Seeing as it changed I might just stick to older ones, never liked the whole paying to unlock stuff approach to games... especially since it doesn't really look like an improvement over the old one.
  • Looks like a cool piece of software.

  • I agree with patrick and i hope the optimize everything properly, rather than what they did last time where they dumped DX10 on everyone. They focused on DX10 and it seemed to ask for more than it really needed when i remember running it even on lower settings. Really disappointing that they are only taking this hawaii approach, hopefully they will expand the game properly and have a world map available. X was fun for having good controls and being able to fly out of my local airport to other airports that i would fly to in real life (turbulence is much easier in a game where you can turn it off!)

  • I am gonna play it day one

  • Seeing that this article will attract plenty of aircraft enthusiasts, I was wondering if anyone would know of a WWII flight sim (not too arcade like, but not too realistic either), which catches the feeling of the old game Pacific Strike?

  • Rise of Flight puts this sim to shame, with limited resources, and a small dev team. Not so much a knock on Microsoft, but really a compliment to those guys (777 Studios). To all flight sim fans, I HIGHLY recommend it.

  • I fly over to Oklahoma every other week, so I may as well get flying experience by playing this while I ride :P

  • So is it for pc or Xbox?

  • Now all ps3 needs is a semi-fun flight game and all the major consoles are covered!

  • Now all ps3 needs is a semi-fun flight game and all the major consoles are covered!

  • Kindof like Forza for airplanes

  • where are all the games like this for console i would love to play this on xbox

  • This is a really unique concept. "Let the dream of flying become real."

  • Since there is noob level in this simulator I'll try it for sure. A5 looks cool as well, pity I don't have $140k.
  • I'm really looking forward to this! It's the reason I made up a Windows account.
