THQ's Warhammer MMO Needs Help

THQ said today it's actively seeking a partner to help launch its MMO Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online. The publisher laid out its release schedule for many of its upcoming titles as part of its third quarter earnings report. The project was moved to THQ's 2014 fiscal year, which begins April 1, 2013.

"While the game in development promises to be a high-quality consumer offering, because of the large financial commitment and associated risks, we are being realistic about our resources and we are actively seeking a partner for this compelling new MMO," said CEO Brian Farrell. "We will keep you updated on our progress."

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online was first announced back in February 2007. Since then, the project has suffered numerous delays. It was finally revealed at E3 2010 where the name of the game and trailer was first shown.

  • This game just looks bad. MMOs are already a delicate formula and if they are messed up its not good.
  • And the fact that its THQ means they better get it fixed before it costs even more money.
  • I wouldn't be in much of a hurry. I'm sure it's going to be devoured by SWOTOR, WoW, and Guild Wars when it does release.
  • A 40K mmo done right would be awesome and the trailer looks like its going in the right direction
  • I hope they can produce this. I love the Warhammer 40,000 series of games. FOR THE EMPEROR!
  • It's still alive, yeah! I hope they find someone soon.

  • I'm not a big fan of MMO's.
  • "because of the large financial commitment and associated risks, we are being realistic about our resources and we are actively seeking a partner"......Translation= We are really broke if this dont work we are screwed. Please Please someone help pull our chestnuts out of the fire.
  • Damn I hope they get the help soon because things seemed to be turning out rather well for the MMO from the trailer. Saw it back then and definitely would like to see a beta and a final product later on down the line. So hopefully someone will step up to the plate and help them.

  • Come on Gaming comunity,If you suffer one great loss in the gaming indestry, DON'T LET IT BE THIS ONE!
  • If they do this less like what is now a traditional MMO and more like Planet Side I think it could be awesome. The brutality of the 40k universe does not seem to fit well with combat mechanics based around a global cooldown. However a massive battlefield based around FPS mechanics with RPG elements may work.
  • k

  • Save 40k! THQ better find a partner and capture it for chaos!
  • A warhammer 40k MMO. I dunno. Seems like warhammer is better suited to strategy and action. The way the factions are organized and such. Could be good though. But ten again, I've said those words for so many failures....
  • Here's what you do: turn it into a single player RPG. Not only is the MMO market hugely over-saturated, but having a single player RPG offering will show potential investors and players a taste of what you're able to bring to the table in your MMO offering. Bam.
  • Nope

  • How about they make it worth playing first. F2P.

  • I'm not sure I'll even remember this game in a month.... 2014, that's a long time away.

  • FOR THE EMPEROR! DEATH FROM ABOVE!

  • Looks sick
