Former Scribblenauts Lead Releases iOS Title

As a lead designer at 5th Cell, Matt Cox helped create one of the most talked-about DS titles of the last several years. After Scribblenauts' success, however, Cox left the developer to move back to his hometown and focus on non-profit opportunities. After spending some time away from the gaming scene, he started up Fourfire, a small team that is releasing their first iOS title today. Sticky Bees is now available on the App Store, and Cox says it's a mash-up of classic concepts.

Playing as the King Bee, you're tasked with collecting a chain of followers and keeping them safe behind you. While the King can destroy enemies, his combo-increasing followers can be destroyed by enemy bugs. "I wanted the satisfaction of smashing through tons of enemies at will, but with the simple strategic hook of keeping a chain of allies alive at the same time.  Looking at Sticky Bees you might think it's a mashup of Snake and Space Invaders, but playing it is a different feeling entirely."

Sticky Bees is available now on the App Store for $0.99 on iPhone/iPod or $1.99 for the HD iPad version. You can watch its debut trailer and see the first screenshots below.
