Vita Games Will Be Cheaper When Downloaded

by Jim Reilly on Jan 31, 2012 at 10:18 AM

Sony today confirmed the digital version of PlayStation Vita games will cost a little less than the retail counterparts.

In Japan, digital Vita games already carry a discount in price - nearly $10. But what about other regions? A SCEA representative confirmed to Game Informer the prices would indeed be cheaper in North America, but would not say by how much.

"There will be a discount," Sony said. "Exact details will be revealed in the very near future." A user on NeoGAF published a screenshot of Best Buy's release list that shows download games will be $5 cheaper than retail copies, but that price reduction has not been confirmed by Sony.

PlayStation Vita launches in North America and Europe on February 22.
