First Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC Detailed

The first piece of downloadable content for Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available next week, Square Enix said today.

The Coliseum battle called ‘Lightning & Amodar’ will be available for Xbox 360 on February 7 and on PlayStation Network February 8. [Update: The DLC will be $2.99 on both platforms.] Players will be put up against friends and enemies from previous Final Fantasy  games, that, if defeated, can be recruited into your party.

Additionally, the publisher noted it plans to release "extensive additional downloadable content" for the game, including story episodes of key characters such as Lightning.

Full details of the content are coming at a later date. In the meantime, if you're still on the fence about picking up the game today, check out our review.

  • Any details on price of DLC?
  • I wonder if they'll eventually release a version with all the packed on content. If so, buying this game as soon as possible may not be such a good idea.

  • God, I HATE that dang Moogle... I'm interested in what characters you'll be facing in the DLC though.
  • I'm interested to see how much the story bits are going to cost.

  • I strongly suspect the possibility that i'll want this particular DLC! ^_^ I wonder if DLC Party Members are treated like normal members, or monster members though...? *Winces at the thought of Lightning being treated like a Monster*
  • Whoa, does that mean you can fight, say, Auron? And recruit him? SOLD
  • Still gonna wait to get this....

  • DLC is such a terribly misused feature of contemporary gaming.
  • This is interesting. I usually don't buy extensive DLC, I wait for it to come out in a complete edition. I wonder if they'll do that for this game. Should I hold off, or not? Hm...

  • Such *** for them to release this game, and then annouce DLC a week later.
  • This is pretty exciting.

  • Interesting. Like a Dissidia crossover or something?

  • Hopefully they'll have someone from FFIX. I would love to see how their HD version would turn out.

Either way having classic FF characters in your party (that you can hopefully use during the main game) would be worth it for me for a few bucks.

Also story related DLC sounds good for the future.

But... I'm still undecided on the game (although most likely I'll get it somewhere down the line).

  • When is DLC for FF Versus XIII coming out... that's what I'd like to know.
  • "Players will be put up against friends and enemies from previous Final Fantasy games" So I'll possibly be able to fight Terra (VI), Tidus (X), and other FF characters with this DLC? I certainly hope so! Sounds completely worth it to me :D Especially if it's not just one character from each game. Can't wait for more details, I hope it gives a roster like Dissidia has, but with more characters :D
  • Hope I can get Auron form FFX in my party. He's too *** to be in just FFX.
  • sounds pretty cool actually if they get some good characters. Hopefully, they'll release a version with all the DLC down the line, because I don't plan on picking this up right now.

  • Please have Terra! Best protagonist of any FF game!

  • I never buy DLC, with the exception of Mass Effect 2.  But if I can actually have a bunch of my favorite FF characters on my team, that's icing on the cake.  I'm really excited about this now!
