Resident Evil Revelations Price Drop

Though the game never went on sale for $49.99, Capcom said today Resident Evil Revelations will now sell for $39.99 instead.

Capcom released a statement explaining the reason for the price drop, which you can read in full below. Be sure to check out our review of the game here if you're still on the fence about it.

Late last year we announced the console-sized adventure that is Resident Evil Revelations would arrive on a 4GB card instead of the standard 2GB card; this increase in memory size led to an increase in price as well, raising the retail cost to $49.99. And while we're confident in the game's value at that price (and the reviews reflect that sentiment as well), we're also exceedingly pleased to say that after weeks of effort, we've been able to lower the price to $39.99.

Since the announcement of the $49.99 price point, we've spent weeks looking for a way to bring your cost down to standard 3DS pricing. Today we can finally confirm we were successful in this, and hope the reduced price encourages even more people to check out this strong entry in the Resident Evil canon.

  • they lowered it because they *** up the box title and FIRST
  • Kudos to Capcom. From what I've played, seen and heard, it likely would've been worth the extra $10 for me.
  • This is great news. Was gonna get it either way this just sweetens the deal!
  • This is a very good deal for a great handheld experience. thanks Capcom!
  • Great, I hope now I can play it on my regular DS as well! Generation 1, baby! Also, we are talking about Resident Evil Revalaitions, right? It seems there's a typo in the spelling of the name here... Okay, seriously though, the game looks great and I'd definitely pick it up if I had a 3DS. 40 bucks for all games (console or otherwise) would be nice, needless to say. Unfortunately I don't have a 3DS so it will be awhile until I play this.
  • I already paid 50 for my pre-order.....oh well happy to help them with 10 extra bucks.
  • I hope GameStop gives me $10 in store credit then, since I preordered the game when it was still $50.
  • I wonder if it has anything to do with the good reviews. They saw it scored good, expected it to sell well, and dropped the price. Probably not, but it's possible, right? The price drop is pretty cool news, I likely would have paid the $50 but this is much better.
  • I will probably get this now. $50 is too much for a handheld game, no matter what size card they use.
  • Sweet. I'm glad I haven't fully paid off my pre-order.

  • If only console games were this price >.<

  • Wow a steal this is a 40$ game on launch that would otherwise be 60$ if on consoles :)

  • Now I'm DEFIANTLY getting this! Good job, Capcom. You get my $40!

  • cool man. $50 for a portable game is bananas. $40 is the ceiling. i wanna get a Vita, but if high profile games end up costing $50, F that in the A.

  • Ok. They lowered the price of RE: Revelations, but what about RE: Revelaitons? Is that still gonna be $49.99? XD I'm just messing around :P
  • what happened to the copy editor?...

  • I wonder what they mean by "weeks of effort." Who would they have to work with to pull this off?
  • Well now I have to go to Gamestop and get my $10 back, great...
  • neat

  • Ahh, good.  Less than two weeks to go...
