The lights are on
Crystal Dynamics' upcoming Tomb Raider game won't be coming to Nintendo's new console, the Wii U. At least not anytime soon.
In a recently published FAQ on the game, the studio says development of the title started long before Wii U was announced, and that if they did port it to Wii U in the future it would have to be built differently for that platform.
“At this time no," Global Brand Director Karl Stewart said when asked if Tomb Raider was coming to Wii U. "When we started developing the game we made a conscious decision that it was all about building the game for a platform and making sure the game was specific to that platform.
"Given that we’ve been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across. If we started building a game for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality.”
Beyond that, Crystal Dynamics said fans can expect a global release for the game on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. No release date has been set, but Tomb Raider will likely hit this year.

They will probably come out later, like Batman AC
Im fine w/ this honestly and I'm a huge Nintendo supporter.
Lets just hope we dont see more articles like this, but nobody is not going to buy a wiiU because Tomb Raider isn't available.
Doesn't surprise me.
Not too fussed, the E3 demonstration just showed FAR too many QTEs, too many screaming sections. Tomb Raider hasn't really EVER been good except the one with Angelina Jolie ;-)
Unfortunately it seems like the Wii U will have to depend on its first party exclusives once again to move the system. I mean, if the Wii U is purportedly 2x as powerful as the Xbox 360, and the Xbox "720" is purportedly 6x as powerful, that graphical disparity will persist into the next-gen. It seems hard to imagine developers flocking over to develop for the console.
Crystal dynamics and Square stopped supporting the Wii U before it was cool
I like the Wii U and want it to succeed
I suppose I'm disappointed; I guess I'll have to rely on the new Paper Mario HD release for the Wii U for my gaming needs when that handheld peripheral releases.
normal, games like this dont sell on nintendo consoles....3rd parties dont sell good on nintendo, very few make it..
Oh well looks like I can only play it on the system I already have.
sounds sensible to me. i wouldn't expect many games to be multi platform to wii u for a while anyway just cause it is different
Is ok with me since I will get that game on my PS3
Bull, I really doubt their ps3 and pc versions are anything but just ports of their 360 version.
On the bright side. PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 owners will still get Tomb Raider. But to honest, I am not surprised this is happening to the Wii U. Wii was a let down in more ways than I can speak about. The only games that justifies me getting the Wii U is the next Super Smash Bros and the Zelda HD game presented at E3. Besides that, Nintendo has a lot to do to gain their core gamers back.
Can't say, in all honesty, that this bothers me that much. It's nice that the Wii U is getting some ports of games that will have already been on PS3 and 360, but I don't want to see the platform piled with nothing but that.
I love Nintendo, but I wouldn't put off owning a game like this just to have it on the Wii U later. For that same reason, I already purchased Arkham City on PS3. But, once the console is out and new third party titles start to make their way over, that's when I'll be heavily considering them on the new console.
