2K Czech Working On Mafia III?

Mafia II (shown) was a well-liked open world crime tale, and hopefully there is evidence that developer 2K Czech is continuing with its creation.

Connectedconsoles.com has reported a 2K Czech job listing for a senior game designer to "create designs for game systems and mechanics for the open world city environment." The listing also asks that the applicant has shipped a triple-A game title with a Metacritic rating of at least 80. Is this for Mafia III or perhaps even a new IP? Who knows.

The last we heard from 2K Czech they were letting employees go, so hopefully this is a sign of better times at the studio, as well as the continuation of the Mafia franchise.

  • OMG!YES! I've been waiting for this to happen! Please be true! The ending in the second totally asked for a third game!
  • They better be. Mafia 2, even with it's numerous flaws, was still one of my favorite games from 2010. I hope they ditch Vito, however, as I never found him all that compelling. Joe rocked, though. Also, am I the only one who finds it kind of disgusting that they're hiring people based on what Metacritic says?
  • Ooh, nice! I love this series. =)

  • I still need to play the second game. Heard it was a decent game.
  • I enjoyed Mafia 2, but they really, really need to tone down the driving. Jeez, 50% of that game was just driving to your destination. If they took out all the driving it would have been a 7 hour game...Which is fine by me, I enjoy the characters and the plot, not the driving.
  • Awesome! I hated the ending to Mafia 2. :(

  • Mafia 2 was great I hope this is true

  • I REALLY hope to play a successor to Mafia 2. I just finished getting all the achievements (yes, I played for MANY hours). As I was playing through the game, I was amazed by how much I fell in love with every aspect. The driving, the graphics, the STORY, the feeling of being in the past, the missions, the gun play, the hand to hand combat. I wonder if the bad reviewers were even playing the same game! Any how, if the devs are reading this message... You have some die hard fans, and we can't wait to play another one of our favorite game franchises. Thanks for Mafia 2 and here's for hoping Mafia 3 makes it's way into our lives soon!
  • I've played Mafia 2 until 14th mission and then I deleted it forever. I guess I was expecting too much because i loved (and still love) Mafia: City of Lost Heaven.
Second part was simply boring and I really doubt than the third will be better.
  • I was so disappointed in the ending of mafia 2. This game would really have to impress me to get me to buy it.

  • another mafia game would be sweet i didn't play the 1st but 2 was good i was a little disapointed while how short it was but it was still a solid game ... that plus theres not alot of games that focus on mafia from what i've seen
  • Mafia 2 was really fun and i hope mafia 3 is an actually free world

  • Just bought Mafia II last week and beat it. What a Masterpiece! I want Mafia III

  • Why give this team another chance? Mafia II took forever and was a disappointment.
  • Loved mafia 2 the only gripe was that it was to linear and you really didnt get to become the don
  • I am glad to hear this, I put so much time into Mafia II that I even got sixth in the world on the Joe's Adventures DLC. Used to be second but I got pushed out of that early on in it's release.

  • I'll have to czech it out sometime.
  • Let's hope so. Mafia II was awesome.

  • Yes! Fingers crossed for Mafia III. More Playboy mags to collect :D

  • That's weird that they'd ask for at least an 80 when Mafia II didn't even hit that.
