The lights are on
[Update] : A new report from Kotaku this morning says industry sources claim the next Xbox will play Blu-ray discs, may not play used games, and will ship with the next iteration of Kinect. Kotaku said Microsoft may implement some sort of anti-used games system for its next console, which could include linking a copy of a game to your Xbox Live account. The reports says right now it's completely hypothetical and is not clear how it may be included, if at all.
One source familiar with Microsoft's plans for the new Xbox said Microsoft plans to ship their new Xbox with a new version of its red-hot Kinect hands-free sensor system. The new Kinect would contain an on-board processor, a feature originally intended for the first Kinect. That processor would enable a new Kinect to more effectively detect users' motions.
[Original post] The Internet is swirling with rumors today about the graphics capability of Microsoft's next console.
According to a report from Fudzilla published today, the power behind the next Xbox will be a PowerPC CPU married to a modified ATI Southern Islands 7000 series GPU. The code name for the 32nm chip is Oban, and the report says it's currently in production. The first run of these chips are being made for development kits only.
Fudzilla's report suggests chips for consumer consoles will go into production by the end of the year, suggesting we won't see Microsoft's new console until 2013 at the earliest. Meanwhile, IGN says the GPU will be based on the 6000 series instead, akin to the Radeon HD 6670.
So far, Microsoft isn't commenting on any of the rumors.

Even though everyone is already commenting about the anti-used game thing I still have to comment :P Seriously if the new Xbox does not let me play used games then I definitely won't be buying it, 90% of my games I get used I just prefer to save the few bucks, plus if it's Blu-Ray does that mean I can't play my 360 games on it? if that is also a truth then count me out
Any console that does not support used games will not make it in my house. Period. I would have no reason to by anything but Steam and Origin games at a much discounted price.
WiiU for me.....
Really, no used game, so now reviews will matter more than ever before.
What's next, It'll be Download only, codes only, ....well that works for not working for used games though.
II HAVE THE POWAAAAAA... He-Man! Ha!! But on the serious note it sounds pretty cool if it goes right.
I can not wait for the official announcement & details for Microsofts NEXT XBOX later this year.
"may not play used games"
And there goes retro gaming... Just imagine if you couldn't play used games on your old systems today. Retro collectors like me would have nothing to do but collect useless, unplayable cartridges. That's what it will be like in thirty years when this system is retro. **** you Microsoft. I guess this works out for them so they can re-release old games on newer systems because you won't be able to play them once new copies of the original stop being printed. **** this.
Ya know what they say third times a charm, 'cept this is only their second attempt at full motion gaming, so don't get your hopes up
There is no way I would even consider buying the next XBox if they really do end up implementing some kind of anti-used games tech. Even though I mostly buy my games new, especially now with online passes becoming rampant, I do buy some games used. I know a lot of people out there can't afford to buy a lot of their games new, especially now. What about those gamers? Yeah, I believe Microsoft is that greedy to do something like that, but I don't think they are that stupid. It seems to me they would lose more money from people not buying the next XBox due to their supposed anti-used games policy than they would lose in used game sales. Being a gamer is expensive enough already.
New console generation speculation. I know this music.
Sounds interesting. I lost interest in my X box after a lack of first party games and the kinect. Maybe if they put out something solid I'd go back to it. For now I'm happy I switched to a PS3
Out with the 8 year old hardware, I want "DX11" and the next generation in multi-platform games, "More Memory" with that a high powered 4 core processor, I know MicroSoft won't put a 6 core in there console that would be pushing it! I just want the next generation in gaming, been waiting for along time!
No used games, sounds like a fiasco. I know it is an old game but "they" have major issues with FFXI because it links directly to your gamertag, xbox and hdd. "new" copies go for over $200. No used games; A great corporate idea, but piss poor for consumers.
Pure speculation on my part: just wait for the day you get home with new game but it reads as used, then you can use a product you paid for! (Gears of War day1 and my broke xbox360) same deal but nothing broke but some code, ish. why even bother blocking used games?
uhm. Horse poop? used games stimulate the economy!
