Jailed Megaupload Founder Falls From Top Spot In Modern Warfare 3 Rankings

It's been one hell of a week for Kim Dotcom. Seven days ago, he was living a lifestyle of the rich and famous in a lavish Auckland, New Zealand mansion, driving around in a Rolls Royce, and sitting on top of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leaderboard for Xbox 360. Then on January 19th, the founder of file-sharing site Megaupload was indicted on charges of overseeing a vast piracy enterprise that has cost copyright holders more than $500 million and netted Dotcom more than $175 million.

The same day he was denied bail while he waits to be extradited from New Zealand to the United States, Dotcom (who is also known as Kim Schmitz) fell from the number one slot in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 rankings. It must be driving Dotcom nuts that he lost the top slot – he cared so much about the feat he recorded the moments leading up to the achievement and posted it in YouTube:

The new title holder is Arazos, who has 181,800 kills and 63,418 deaths (2.87 K/D ratio) and no known history of pirating.

Now that he's been denied bail, Dotcom, a German national, will be held in custody in New Zealand until his U.S. extradition hearing on February 22.

  • I find this to be amusing, and I bet he was shocked when he was denied the bail he would have paid with money from what he was arrested for.
  • Mod
Why does this article show pictures of born4this?
  • What a fat disgusting turd of a human being
  • I don't get it....
  • From his incredible physique I find it highly unbelievable that this gentleman was at the top of a video game leaderboard.
  • ...lmfao

  • Hopefully he cares less about falling down Call of Duty leaderboards and more about falling down in prison showers.
  • If that's him, he fits that "fat guy who lives in mothers basement" category. On a more serious note, I'm glad this scum will rot in hell (jail).
  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!....That would be all.

  • Well, this is good to hear.

  • Good for him he deserves it.

  • i still can't believe how much money this guy made pirating

  • this is more than disturbing, the media is so wrong its silly
and people is just buying this absolute bullcrap

MU always had a hard stance against copyrighted material on their servers, even automated scripts looking for strings on uploaded material, but having a online storage hotel its IMPOSSIBLE to be 100% sure some renamed packaged files aint copyrighted

    lets take an example here

walk down to the trainstation, put 1kg of cocain in a locker. should we arrest the owner of the trainstation for drugdealing now ?

this is just bloody insane, typical U.S bullying pushed by the movie industries lobbyists
  • Leaderboards are full of hackers and modders anyways.
  • Its easy to buy first place on those leaderboards if you have that kind of money. Im super rich as well i know this.
  • they havent pirated ***, and why some misinformed "journalists" cant get the diffrence in hosting and actually actively sharing is beyond me it will be a sad day in internet history if he gets convicted because it has great implications on the internet freedom this is exactly why everyone wants to stop silly things as SOPA
  • I'm not advocating piracy, but I used the free trial version of Megavideo to watch anime, since I don't have a TV, now I can't seem to find my shows anywhere.

  • Kim Dotcom is a clone of Jim Sterling?
  • Orange juice, f*ck yeah!!!!
  • Down with pirates! *raises glass*
