Dead Space developer Visceral Games has big plans for the franchise, but apparently the studio is also working on something else.

A job listing for a lead multiplayer designer reads: "EA is looking for a lead multiplayer designer to help create a thrilling online action shooter game. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a bold new franchise which is a cornerstone for a new EA Games Studio." More specifically, the posting is looking for someone with experience and ideas for multiplayer maps. No particular franchise is listed in the job posting.

Visceral is already working on Dead Space 3, and is rumored to be looking at other avenues for the franchise – including an FPS.

Well, I trust Visceral Games, even if they are apart of the sometimes embarrassing EA. Odd question, but how it a cornerstone if it's a bold new franchise?

Not digging the fact that it's another action shooter, but Visceral has not done wrong with Dead Space. I'll be cautiously optimistic about this.

They seem pretty confident in this, although I didn't play the multiplayer part of Dead Space 2 I heard it was fun. As long as they don't say this is going to be the next COD, Halo, etc. killer(the developers who say that are so annoying) than I will probably give it a shot.

On a Dead Space related note, this morning on the way to work I saw a radio tower in my peripheral. Tall glowing red structure that I've see every single workday for almost 4 years now, but today for the first time my mind saw (or I'm told "matrixed" is the term used for this phenomenon) the image of a Dead Space Marker, in pretty vivid detail.

Haven't played or even really thought about the games in a long while... thought that was pretty peculiar o.o

I must say there's too many shooters, but some of them are very unique such as Tribes: Ascend. Hopefully Visceral can bring in an unique gameplay mode or something.
