The lights are on
UPDATE: The creators of Indie Game: The Movie cleared up some early misinformation about the potential TV show on the film's Facebook page. Apparently the show will not be a comedy and was only mistaken as such because most of HBO's half-hour content fits into that genre. The Facebook post also makes it clear that the show isn't a sure thing yet, but the filmmakers seem excited about the prospects.
ORIGINAL STORY: Indie Game: The Movie, a documentary about independent games in case you couldn't tell by the title, has been picked up by HBO to become a fictional half-hour comedy.
The documentary, which follows the development of games like Super Meat Boy, Braid, and the unreleased Fez, premiered at Sundance this weekend and was good enough to attract HBO. I haven't had a chance to see the movie myself, but it is one I have been interested in ever since the trailer (check it out below) appeared online.
A fictional half-hour comedy based on what appears to be a serious documentary seems like an odd choice, but HBO has never steered me wrong when it comes to making me laugh. They did finance Mr. Show with Bob and David after all.
Just a quick heads up: the trailer does contain some harsh language.

Awesome, looks like it might be good.
It's surprising, but I'm actually looking forward to seeing this movie. I've played the games featured and I really enjoyed them.
I'd watch it.
Well, I'll watch this. Just ask... how/where do I watch this?
Sounds good to me. The movie, however, looks fantastic.
Please make a game based on the TV show. "Indie Game: The Movie: The Show: The Game."
Won't be long before video games completely take over mainstream entertainment Movie and TV wise. Hell half of the movies and tv shows nowadays are just ripp-offs of video games anyway.
I would watch that.
I saw the movie at its premier, and it was amazing. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen, so this is good news.
A comedy made out of a documentary about indie games? That is really strange. I hope it turns out good, though.
This will be perfect once they add HBO GO to Xbox!
Looks like a great movie. Don't know about making it a comedy
id watch that
