New Resident Evil 6 Details

During the Resident Evil Anniversary Premier Party in Japan yesterday, Capcom revealed additional details about the recently announced Resident Evil 6. Executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and director Eiichiro Sasaki took the stage and made some additional announcements about the game.

As reported by Andriasang, the Capcom developers say Resident Evil 6 has been in development in secrecy for a number of years and has the largest team working on the game in the series' history. The staff currently sits at about 150 people, but if you include contributing parties, the total could reach as high as 600.

This is your mystery man.

Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield will star as the main protagonists, but Capcom says there's an additional main character, an unnamed male who's described as "the man who's told to save the world."

The new Javo enemy type.

Kobayashi also confirmed zombies are returning for the sixth game, and noted that there are "many secrets" still surrounding them. A new enemy was also revealed, the Javo.

He also said that the game is being made to be the "ultimate horror entertainment" and highlighted two key concepts" "The fear the lies ahead" and "everything is overwhelming."

The game's story between Chris and Leon will progress simultaneously. Leon's story is set in America while Chris' is in a city in China.

  • This game looks SICK! I Love Resident Evil!

....and how did I manage to get the first post?? Woot! :-)
  • Hopefully there won't be any rock punching this time around.
  • I know Kotaku was speculating that the mystery character might actually be Hunk.
  • This game looks great. I just hope Wesker doesn't make an appearance. The fact that they never explain how he still manages to escape from impending doom gets a little old.
  • I can't believe they've managed to keep this game under wraps for so long without somebody slipping. I wish more devs did this, waiting only a year for a new RE is far better than announcing it three years ahead of release and having to be patient.
  • I was wondering if the girl from the trailer might be Ashley, the President's daughter from RE4. Other than that, I am really liking the warzone city/nightmare aspect.
  • From the trailer the mystery guy seems to be immune to the virus so that´s why the world needs his blood, because he´s immune.

  • Sounds good to me. I need to play all of the other Resident Evils now.
  • this is like a resident evil orgy two games in one year!!
  • Looks sick. 11-20-12 will be a great day.

  • nice comeback...hope it lives up to the hype...
  • This look's amazing, the part in the trailer when leon is walking in some sort of tunnel and you see the shadows of incoming zombies just blew me....Wait the entire trailer blew me away! im glad Revalations and Opperration Raccoon City will release soon because we are gonna have to wait quit a while for RE6 release.

  • I am so excited for this game. Thank you CAPCOM for doing something right this year ^_^

  • Co-op again?

  • I wish they'd bring back Billy Cohen. D@mn it.
  • Resident Evil a horror title? Who'd a thunk it

  • Am I the only one who thinks the "mystery man" looks like Wentworth Miller, AKA Chris Redfield from the RE films?

  • Who knows, this holiday season might still trump last years, but i doubt it.
  • I really can't wait to play this game.

  • Can't wait! November can't come soon enough.
