Mass Effect 3 Demo Lands In February

The Reaper invasion is almost here, and you can get a peek at what's in store for your in Mass Effect 3 when the game's demo hits in February.

On February 14 (Valentine's Day), you can download the demo for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC and experience single-player (which drops you in during the Reaper attack on Earth) and co-op multiplayer slices of the game. You can even try out the title's Kinect functionality, assuming you have the peripheral of course.

In respect to the co-op mode in the demo, gamers will be able to try it out on February 17 – unless they've already qualified for early access, in which case they can play the co-op on the 14th. How do you qualify for early access? By activating your Battlefield 3 online pass or via other as-yet-unannounced methods which EA says it will reveal in the near future on www.masseffect.com.

  • Now I won't feel so bad being forever alone. Also "as of yet annouced", I'm just going to assume they aren't going to announce anything.
  • Can't wait!
  • Oh good, now I have something to do on Valentine's Day. Thank you Bioware, for filling the gap that my loneliness creates. :P
  • Awesome, I'll likely test out the multiplayer. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
  • awesome :)

  • Well, I don't think I will be able to try it on Valentines Day (planning to force girlfriend to play Twisted Metal). I think I'll just hold off from playing the singleplayer, as I'm much more curious as how the coop is going to be.

  • Too bad my girl will make me do some stupid crap on Vday. Ohwell there is always the day after. The only way missing this demo will be worth it is if I get some serious love action. Im talkin serious love action guys.
  • So pumped for this game!

  • battlefield 3 online pass=check, Mass Effect 3 demo on Feb. 14th=soon to be check

  • But I want it NOW! :(
  • Sweet, now I can find out if this computer can run ME3. I win.
  • I think they should have released the multiplayer WAY before V-Day! I would think one of the reasons for releasing the demo is to TEST the multiplayer aspect of the game. If stuff needs to be changed how much can they really tweak or change when the games comes out LESS than a month later!?!
  • NOOOOOO! I won't be playing this! I'm not playing/reading anything about this game until the full game (N7 Collector's Edition :D) is in my disc drive. I'm not even looking at screenshots. It's bad enough I saw the EA E3 demo from last year...but after I ruined Mass Effect 2 for myself, I'm not making that mistake again and I'm taking extra precautions to make sure of it.
  • Noooooo. I have to wait a whole FRICKIN' month to play it! The early access paper said early January! &@$!

  • This is a must buy for me. I just hope they fix some of the glitches that plagued the last one. First time through my game froze on me when I was on the second to the last mission and I had to start a new game because it corrupted my save data.

  • Hmm, 'tis also the day Twisted Metal releases! I'll just have to download this on the other console!

  • I expected an article on PIPA or SOPA today. Won't this affect you guys as well, and mean you can post limited gameplay videos and wouldn't game informer digital edition be reduced to rubble?
  • Just pre-ordered today, this will be GOTY ppl Im telling y'all.

  • Can't wait to feel like a total boss. I don't care how people feel about the Kinect. It's a great add-on, and will fit seamlessly in with Mass Effect 3. BioWare is making it so that you actually feel like a part of the experience. You'll be living it. Way too cool.

My only disappointment is that we must wait until February 14. BioWare, you said we'd have a demo by January. This makes gamer sad. :( But hey, it'll give me something to do on Valentine's Day. Maybe it'll make the wait for March 6 just a little less painful.

  • This is pretty irritating. Why even bother with a cross promotion for Kingdoms of Amalur then? They were specific in saying that the promotional items would only be effective in the early levels of the game, which myself and probably anybody else who cares about getting these items, will be long past. Would it be so hard for them to release the demo earlier? It's not like they don't have it ready to hit the marketplace. Even putting it out there a week early on Reckoning's release date would be fine. I love Bioware, but sometimes I feel like they piss people off on purpose.
