  • Microsoft has nothing on Sony in Japan!
  • Dang, Nintendo dominated.  I'm glad they're doing good after a terrible 3DS launch lineup

  • Wow this list is nuts! FF XIII-2 only recently came out in Japan right, and it's on the top 10 list!
  • sony straight rocks at selling things wooooooo sony rocks
  • It's all Nintendo in Japan

  • Nothing surprising, really. Well, actually, I'm surprised by the lack of Pokemon.

  • 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. NOT!!!
  • Great job Nintendo! I bet 2012 will be an even better year for them and they are able to take advantage of dlc since they've started using it and also that the smash bros will be great and hopefully come out with a Pokemon game better than black and white (Pokemon + Nobuanga's Ambition!)
  • Vita sells 4 times more than 360. I didnt know Xbox was that unpopular in Japan.
  • Holy crap, the 3DS has sold half as many in it's first year as the PSP has the entire time it's been out in Japan?

I guess the 3DS actually is pretty successful.

  • Wait so only 2 games sold over 1 million copies.  I know Japan has fairly small population but seems odd.  Especially when you figure that they moved over 4 mill 3DS.

  • It would seem that Nintendo's death has been greatly exaggerated.

  • How interesting. The 3DS is doing far better in Japan.
  • Didn't know the 3DS was doing that well.

  • So people are still buying PSP Gos, huh?
  • i want to live in japan!the best console are selling better and top ten has no crappy shoter!
  • And not a single shooter is on that list. It's amazing how different the markets are in Japan compared to the west.
  • I wonder what accounts for the differences in taste for video games from country to country? Does it have more to do with education quality or culture?
  • Nintendo is crazy in japan!! Well I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

  • Nintendo's numbers really should amaze you once you think about them enough.  The three top software titles?  3DS games.  The top selling system?  3DS.  On average, about how many 3DS owners purchased all three?  About one in four.  That's about, what, $300 each?  And that's only if those 1,000,000 people purchased the price-cut 3DSes.  For those that bought the 3DS at the original price, that's about $370 plus tax.  Multiply that by about 1,000,000 (Monster Hunter 3G sold just under 1,000,000) and that's over $300,000,000.  Realistically the grand majority of 3DSes were purchased after the price drop so that amount was raised in about a five month span.  That's not even counting all the other 3DSes and games sold.

TL;DR The 3DS (and Nintendo by extension) is sitting pretty and has a comfortable lead on the Vita.
