Dead Rising 2 Dev Working On Open World Action Games

Like tons of other industries, video game developers often recruit new talent by posting job openings online. Such is the case with Capcom Vancouver’s recent listing for a design director needed to help out on an “unannounced new IP.” Certainly the fact that Capcom Vancouver is hiring isn’t exciting in itself, but we gamers love picking apart these listings for any morsel of new game insight.

According to the listing, the talented Capcom Vancouver is looking for someone with "experience implementing compelling content in third-person action games".

"We have two unannounced projects in the pipe and there is lots of work to be done,” the listing reads. “We need the help of smart, passionate and dedicated people to help us make our open world action games!"

It also sounds like this new title will be available for 360 and PS3. What’s more, Capcom Vancouver is predictably rumored to be working on Dead Rising 3, so one of the titles mentioned above could easily be a continuation of the zombie adventure.

Anyway, we’re excited by the prospect of a new IP coming from the fine folks at Capcom Vancouver.

  • Can work!
But i dont get why annoucing that you are working on 2 titles but you cant say the names of them :P just seems abit teasing!
  • Dead Rising 3 is going to be awesome. In spite of it's design flaws Dead Rising 2 is still one of my favorite zombie games and I'm looking forward to an even bigger open world to slaughter some undead in.
  • "Third Person Open World Action Game"

    -Sigh-

Dragon's Dogma Ultimate Edition probably. It'll release 4 months after Dragons Dogma with 10 new weapons, 8 new enemies and spectator mode for $40.
  • I know a lot of people love the Dead Rising series, and I think its a really great concept, but I felt the story moved along too slow.

I just had a couple of copies of Dead Rising 1 and 2 and gave them each an hour of gameplay, but just couldn't get into them for some reason.

    ohhh well.

  • Good for them, good for us, risky for the publisher.

  • If they make another Dead Rising it's going to be awesome! and an open game also  sounds amazing

  • At this point Capcom has nothing to lose. They've lost most of their prime talent and are reinventing most of what they left behind, for better or worse. They need to take risks like this in order for them to even have a chance.
  • Oh Capcom. I have zero hope in you.

  • Dead Rising 3 open world sounds cool.

  • Hopefully there's no weapon degradation/breakage in whatever game they make next. It's the sole reason I can't get into Dead Rising or Dead Island or any of those types of games. I should be able to smash rotten zombie skulls all the live long day with a crowbar or pipe or tire iron or whatever. All the live long day!

  • The article says "New IP" that means NOT another Dead Rising....that would NOT be a "New IP"....which I am okay with...just please no more zombies!

  • we just need to wait.. to see how the new game will looks like

  • Open world? Zombies? Sounds like a plan. I really liked the direction they went with Dead Island so I'd love to see someone improve upon that formula.

  • Any (good) new IP is good news. It's always the right idea to get new games out there.

  • cool so far capcom hasnt disappointed me when it comes to zombie games

  • could be cool

  • i still need to play Dead rising 2
