Double Fine's Kinect Game Coming This February

Studio head Tim Schafer announced the release date for "Double Fine Happy Action Theater," its new Kinect title. The game releases February 1, 2012. A price point was not revealed, however. "Better achieve your life's goals asap, because come 2/1 your priorities will change," he said over Twitter.

Double Fine Happy Action Theater is a collection of min-games with a family-friendly focus.

  • A "collection of mini-games" is going to change my life goals? That's an interesting marketing angle.

  • What id I don't want my priorities to change?

  • As long as it has the classic off-beat Double Fine humor, I will be happy to get it.  I have enjoyed all the games they have made so far.

Still waiting on Psyconauts 2 though.

  • oh wow this marks game number two worth buying a kinect for; with number one being child of eden. (i hope it's a variety show starring all the characters in the tim shafer/doublefine universe.)
  • Not digging that its a mini-game collection, but the fact that it's Double Fine could convince me otherwise.  Plus, maybe worth to keep that Kinect out of the closet.

  • As long as we get to play or at the least see a two-headed, flying, acrobatic baby, I'm sold.

  • I am actually impressed with this one. Yes its for kids, but it looks like a lot of innovative game options for the motion game genre. Check this video

  • I've actually been playing Pyshonauts and it's a pretty fun game. Also have Costume Quest but haven't started it yet.

  • Psychonauts 2....get to work.

  • The only Double Fine/Tim Schafer game I have played is Brutal Legend, but I really want to see a sequel to that (as well as play their other games).

  • ***, I wish they would stop with the Kinect games and just make Psyconauts 2 for the love of God.

  • From what I've heard about this game, it should actually be fun to play.

  • I really can use a good Kinect game. I love Kinect and really want it to succeed. Let's hope this game is enjoyable.

  • Another thing, other from my comment about how they should just make Psychonauts 2 for the love of God.  This is 2 straight Kinect games that are heavily geared towards children and families, has Tim and the rest of Double Fine sold out? They use to make games that were meant for gamers. It's just really hard to believe that they can't get the backing from any publisher to make Psychonauts 2. And now whenever Tim says they have a big announcement coming I expect some lame Kinect game that's not geared towards myself or many other gamers. Now don't get me wrong, I like Kinect but when a company stops making big games for real gamers and just starts making kids games for Kinect, it's depressing. Kind of like what Rare did by going from making great games back in the day to working on Avatars and Kinect games.

  • Microsoft you have been sucking lately, the only exclusive you have released lately is Gears of War3, I know is awesome, but my ploblem comes in how Halo4 is the only game for next year.. Halo4 is no Grand Theft Auto V, I would probably be exited if you hadnt released games of Halo in years, also MasterChief is what looks boring about 4, Reach and ODST looked like a better direction, 4 doesnt even sound like GOTYcontender
